₦25M prize up for grabs as Warri Peace & Unity Cup returns DDM News

(DDM) – Warri is set to host its biggest grassroots football festival as the Ofugara Peace and Unity Cup returns this year with ₦25 million in prize money.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the third edition of the tournament will kick off on October 1st and conclude by mid-November, drawing veteran football stars from across Delta State.
Organisers revealed that the champions will pocket ₦10 million, while the runners-up will receive ₦7 million. Third and fourth places are set to earn ₦5 million and ₦3 million respectively.
In addition to team prizes, individual accolades will include Golden Boot, Golden Gloves, Best Midfielder, and Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards, recognising outstanding performances.
Twenty-four veteran All-Star teams from Delta Central will compete, divided into six groups of four teams each.
The opening match will feature a thrilling encounter between defending champions Corner-Lux All Stars and Delta All Stars International Veterans, promising high-stakes action from the start.
Silver Ofugara, the tournament’s sponsor, stressed that the competition extends beyond football, serving as a platform for peace, unity, and community development in Warri and its environs.
The Local Organising Committee (LOC) confirmed that all logistical arrangements, including venues, security, and accommodation for teams, have been finalised for a seamless tournament experience.
Fans and football enthusiasts are expected to flock to the venues, as the event not only showcases veteran talent but also promotes grassroots engagement and local cohesion through sport.
Organisers called on all participants, supporters, and stakeholders to uphold the spirit of fair play, adding that the tournament aims to strengthen bonds between communities and inspire young footballers.
