2027: Prepare your handover note — ADC tells Tinubu

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on President Bola Tinubu to prepare to leave office at the end of his current term in 2027, stating that he has not done enough to warrant a second term.
This comes in response to recent comments by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga suggesting that Tinubu has no intention of leaving office before 2031.
The ADC described Onanuga’s position as “presumptuous and patently undemocratic,” stressing that the president’s mandate ends in 2027.
The party criticized Tinubu’s administration for deepening insecurity, worsening poverty, and economic collapse, accusing him of dividing the country and imposing harsh taxes on Nigerians.
The ADC highlighted issues such as rampant kidnappings, banditry, economic instability, inflation, and job losses, stating that Nigerians are now poorer, hungrier, and angrier.
The party also accused the administration of authoritarian tendencies, citing harassment of journalists, brutality against protesters, and disregard for court orders.
The ADC warned that Nigerians would not tolerate any attempt to extend Tinubu’s rule beyond the constitutional limit, stating, “Come 2027, it will be APC versus the Nigerian people.”
ADC urged Tinubu to focus on preparing to hand over power rather than seeking a second term.
