36 years ago yesterday, Bianca Onoh was crowned the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) in December 1988.
In 1989, Bianca Odinakachukwu also won the Miss Africa beauty pageant held in The Gambia.
Later that same year, several months after winning the Nigerian versions of Miss Intercontinental and Miss Africa, Bianca Onoh made the bold decision to resign her titles. This came after it was revealed that she was in a relationship with the former Biafran leader and Ikemba of Nnewi, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
The pageant organizers, Silverbird, were reportedly furious, as titleholders of Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) were discouraged from engaging in high-profile relationships during their reign. Bianca later explained that the intense pressure of fulfilling her duties as a pageant queen had become unbearable, prompting her to hand over her crown to the first runner-up, Regina Askia, who completed the remainder of the MBGN and MBGA tenure.
She later married the former Biafran leader, Emeka Ojukwu.
