80-yr-old Colombian man found dead in Lagos hotel room

Police authorities in Lagos State have initiated an investigation into the sudden death of an 80-year-old Colombian national, Quesada Vanegas Ricardo Alfonso, whose body was discovered at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Festac Town, Lagos.
According to reports, Alfonso’s lifeless body was found on May 1, 2025, around 3:45pm in Room C85 on the hotel’s 8th floor.
He had been residing at the hotel for over four months prior to his death. Preliminary investigations revealed no signs of violence or foul play on his body.

The body has been transported to the Mainland General Hospital morgue in Yaba for autopsy. A coroner’s inquest has been initiated to determine the cause of death.
As part of the ongoing investigation, some hotel staff were briefly detained for failing to maintain accurate guest records, but have since been released after questioning.
The police have assured the public of a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Alfonso’s death
