A Nigerian lady has sparked widespread outrage after a video of her cutting out the “1000” inscription from a N1,000 naira note surfaced online.
The footage, which quickly went viral, shows the lady using scissors to snip the notes, subsequently applying the cut-out inscriptions to decorate her nails.
The controversial act has triggered a storm of reactions, with many Nigerians calling for swift action from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to address the mutilation of the national currency.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act clearly stipulates that defacing or mishandling the naira is a punishable offense. However, despite this law, incidents of naira abuse continue to make headlines.
