* The Anambra State ward congress to elect delegates for the primary election of the All Progressives Congress, which comes up on 5 April has ended in crisis.
The crisis was caused by a delay in the commencement of the exercise which held on Saturday.
The eight man Congress Committee members of the party headed by Mohammed Abubakar are no where to be found as it was alleged that they have gone into hiding.
This is coming as a result of complaints by several aspirants of the party who alleged that the conduct was to favour a particular politician.
* The table water factory at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra state, is back in full operation, marking a major victory for the institution under the leadership of Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie.
Dr. Awuzie, upon assuming office as 6th substantive rector a month ago, decried neglect of the instruction’s major sources of internally generated revenues, and noted that her administration would make every effort to ensure that the school boosts its IGR base, so that it would not base solely on handouts from the federal government.
Dormant for years due to logistics and equipment failures, the factory’s revival became a top priority for Dr. Awuzie upon assuming office.
* A self-acclaimed advocate of Igbo culture and traditions, Ezenwanyi Chinyere Ezekwugo, has been arrested by security operatives in Anambra State.
Popularly known as Ada Ekwensu, Ezenwayi Ezekwugo, who hails from Umudioka, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the State, recently came to public notice after she made faceless video sometime in February, accusing Governor Chukwuma Soludo of persecuting traditional worshipers in the state and working for the extinction of the Igbo culture and tradition, further describing the Governor as an occultist.
While also raining insults on the Governor, the so-called Ada Ekwensu, who also said that Jesus Christ must leave the Igbo land, also invoked Satan to fight against Soludo.
* Residents of Okpoko, a community in the Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, have praised Governor Charles Soludo for his transformative contributions to their area.
They expressed their appreciation on Saturday during a visit by the leadership of the Late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah Group to inspect the projects the governor has implemented in the community.
The residents commended Governor Soludo for his efforts in building essential infrastructure, such as hospitals, roads, and providing tap water—amenities that had previously been absent.
* Anambra State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, stated over the weekend that his motivation for entering politics was to champion the needs of ordinary citizens, particularly the underprivileged.
Okoye, representing Awka South two Constituency, made this statement during a meeting at his Amawbia home with the Anambra State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), led by Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu.
The Deputy Speaker recounted that his empowerment initiatives for children, young people, women, and the less fortunate began in 2014. These programs aimed to cultivate a community of hardworking individuals with thriving businesses, protected rights, and a secure environment.
Okoye explained that this vision drives him to spend millions of Naira annually on student school fees, housing for the elderly and disadvantaged, and empowering constituents and others through initiatives like free vehicles and low-interest loans.
* Youth leader and advocator in Idemili North LGA, Comrade Chukwuebuka Nwobosi, has informed Obosi APGA Ward 1 women of the voters’ registration exercise scheduled to take place between May 27 and June 5, 2025.
Nwobosi disseminated the information to the women when he paid them a solidarity visit at Obosi, Anambra state on March 10, 2025.
The voters’ registration exercise is designed to enfranchise all adults in the state in order for them to be able to exercise their civic responsibility of casting their votes in the November 2025 Anambra governorship election.
Comrade Nwobosi poured encomiums on Gov. Soludo of Anambra state for the sterling and laudable achievements he recorded in diverse areas like education, agriculture, economy, environmental protection and sanitation, and security.
* The Chairman of Njikoka LGA, Hon. Chinedu Ononiba has extended heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who was recently honoured by the Daily Independent Newspaper as the “Governor of the Year on Urban Renewal”.
Barr. Ononiba noted that the prestigious recognition highlights Governor Soludo’s exceptional leadership and commitment to transforming Anambra into a “liveable and prosperous homeland’.
According to the Mayor, the award, which celebrates the Governor’s efforts in urban development and renewal, underscores the significant strides made under his leadership in making Anambra State a model of progress and modernization.
In his congratulatory message, Mayor Ononiba commended Governor Soludo for his visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to urban renewal, noting that the award is well-deserved and a reflection of the Governor’s outstanding achievements.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has celebrated his three years in office with a pontifical Thanksgiving mass held at the Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in Awka.
Soludo stated that his three years is a journey ordained by God, looked back to the promises he made three years ago, saying that much of the manifesto has been achieved.
The Governor stressed that based on his administration’s principle of one state, one people, one agenda, he is driven by needs, empathy, and compassion.
He reiterated his administration’s focus on key areas such as education reforms, sustainable youth empowerment, road infrastructure development, and enhancing healthcare services, highlighting ongoing initiatives aimed at boosting local businesses and fostering job creation in the state.
* Some traders at Oyeagu market, Abagana have appealed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to save their businesses from the negative effects of the order of the Chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, ejecting them from the shops which they legitimately acquired from the local government.
The traders lamented the sudden ejection order issued under the guise market reorganization, including conversion of their shops to upstairs, without recourse to them, after occupying the shops for several years.
Among the over 60 shop owners affected by the order is Comfort Anunyaba, a 65-year-old widow who amidst sobs recounted her struggle to get the shop.
* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has stated that Prof. Chukwuma Soludo is consistent with impressive performance following the landmark banking reforms he introduced when he was Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria as well as his unprecedented achievements in all sectors in the State as Governor of Anambra State in just three years.
Felicitating Governor Soludo on behalf of the State Legislature as his administration clocks three years, Rt. Hon. Udeze enumerated some prominent achievements of Governor Soludo to include improved education system, free education from primary to secondary school, employment opportunities, construction of new government house and governor’s lodge, improved security, quality road construction across the State, agricultural revolution, youth empowerment, transformation of the House of Assembly Complex as well as societal reformation and welfare of the citizenry among other gains of his administration.
The Speaker who noted with great satisfaction the bold steps taken by Governor Soludo to bring meaningful development to the State within three years in office, enjoined Ndi Anambra especially politicians irrespective of their party leanings to join hands with the Governor in realizing his wish for a better, more secure and liveable Homeland which is the thrust of his administration.
He called on business executives in the State both at home and in the diaspora to partner the State government by investing at home especially now that Governor Soludo’s efforts towards achieving total security of lives and property of the citizenry are yielding positive results.
Rt Hon.Udeze while revealing the resolve of the State Legislature to remain a veritable instrument for the peace and development of the State, prayed God to continue to strengthen Governor Soludo to enable him to realize all his good intentions for the State and for the benefit of the entire citizenry.
