Am In Politics To Serve, Not To Accumulate Wealth: Okoye Declares

Anambra State House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, stated over the weekend that his motivation for entering politics was to champion the needs of ordinary citizens, particularly the underprivileged.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
Okoye, representing Awka South two Constituency, made this statement during a meeting at his Amawbia home with the Anambra State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), led by Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu.

The Deputy Speaker recounted that his empowerment initiatives for children, young people, women, and the less fortunate began in 2014. These programs aimed to cultivate a community of hardworking individuals with thriving businesses, protected rights, and a secure environment.

Okoye explained that this vision drives him to spend millions of Naira annually on student school fees, housing for the elderly and disadvantaged, and empowering constituents and others through initiatives like free vehicles and low-interest loans.

“I give out of genuine concern,” he said. “I am in politics to serve, not to accumulate wealth. Politics has given me the chance to help more vulnerable people. My goal is to bring happiness, encouragement, and empowerment to people so they can succeed in their chosen fields.”

“I have offered shelter and security to schools, the elderly, children, and others. I don’t publicize these efforts because I see them as service to God and humanity. I believe politics provides an opportunity to serve.”

Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, the State Chairman of the NUJ, praised the lawmaker for delivering the benefits of democracy to his constituents.

The NUJ boss assured Okoye that the union, under his leadership, would support him in furthering his charitable and political goals for the benefit of everyone.
