However the situation unfolds upon the culmination of 2024/2025, Manchester United stand to receive a cash injection from Jadon Sancho’s departure.

The same old issues in his game have reared their ugly head; an unwillingness to take on his man, frequently passing backwards and a general lack of attacking prowess have seen him fall rapidly in Enzo Maresca’s estimations over the last few months, so much so that recent reports have suggested Chelsea would go as far as bypassing their obligation clause when the window opens.

According to David Ornstein, they’d have to pay United around £5m to rescind the agreement, which would then see Sancho return to Manchester.
Alternatively, Chelsea could sign the 24-year-old permanently before offloading him themselves, with GiveMeSport claiming both Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen hold an interest in the out-of-sorts player.
Sancho enjoyed his most prolific form in Germany. He racked up 53 goals and 64 assists in 158 appearances for Dortmund, though only five goal contributions came in the 21 appearances he made when returning for a second stint on loan in 2023/2024, following his notorious fallout with then-United boss Erik ten Hag.
For Chelsea, the 23-capped England international has recorded two goals and six assists in 28 outings but hasn’t contributed in the Premier League since January 4.
