Embattled Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Sunday, March 23, 2025, made his first public appearance following his suspension and the declaration of a state of emergency in the state by President Bola Tinubu.

Fubara was seen attending a church service at the global headquarters of Salvation Ministries in Port Harcourt, days after he, his deputy Professor Ngozi Odu, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly were suspended in a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Arriving at the church at around 10 a.m., Fubara was spotted in a six-car convoy, accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, and a team of security aides.

Since the emergency declaration, speculation had grown over Fubara’s safety and location, with unverified reports claiming he had relocated to Bayelsa State Government House in Yenagoa.

However, his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, dismissed the rumors, assuring that the governor is safe and doing well.

“Forget about what you are reading on social media. The governor is safe and doing well,” Chukwudi told reporters.
