Nigerian entrepreneur and chairman of the Cubana Group, Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has announced plans to set up a tricycle assembly plant in Ebonyi State.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, after a meeting with Governor Francis Nwifuru in Abakaliki, Obi Cubana highlighted the factors that influenced his decision to invest in the state.
He commended the governor for fostering a peaceful environment, enhancing security, and improving infrastructure, all of which have made Ebonyi an attractive destination for business.
“There is a peaceful environment, enhanced security, and improved infrastructure under the Nwifuru-led administration. I commend the governor for creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, making Ebonyi a preferred investment destination,” he said.
The business mogul emphasized that the planned expansion will focus on the assembly and sale of tricycles.
He also noted the importance of investing in his home region rather than solely focusing on other states.
“As renowned businessmen, we cannot continue investing in other states while neglecting Ebonyi. One of our major partners is from Ebonyi, and we are committed to supporting the state government’s job creation efforts,” he added.
Obi Cubana further stated that the investment will contribute to industrialization and agro-business ventures in the state.
He assured that preparations are already underway, and significant progress will be made in the coming months to kickstart operations.
This move is expected to boost employment opportunities and economic growth in Ebonyi, further strengthening the state’s position as an emerging hub for business and industrial development.
