United learn Osimhen price tag after prioritising Delap

The Red Devils co-owners are preparing for a pivotal summer window.

INEOS have just learned exactly how much they’ll have to fork out if they are to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli this summer.

Long have Manchester United been among Osimhen’s suitors, primarily because of their notorious woes in front of goal that are still yet to be resolved – despite over £100 million being spent on the forward position in the last two years.

Now, the Nigerian talisman is expected to depart Naples as soon as he returns to the club following a season-long loan spell with Galatasaray. There is no buy option included in the sides’ loan agreement, and his fallout with manager Antonio Conte last year, which culminated with the player being stripped of his number and removed from their Serie A squad list, means there’s little to no chance of him having a future with Napoli.

As such, Osimhen’s next destination is a complete question mark. He was on the verge of signing for Al Ahli before his move to Turkey last September until the deal collapsed, so whether or not Saudi Pro League teams will revive their interest remains to be seen.

ESPN claims the 26-year-old is ‘targeting a move to the Premier League or Juventus’, with Arsenal, Chelsea and United all ready to enter the market in search of a renowned No.9. Liverpool are also likely to reinforce the position if they’re able to find a buyer for the lacklustre Darwin Nunez. It’s thought Osimhen will cost around £55.5m.

In regards to United’s potential pursuit, it has been claimed that Ipswich Town frontman Liam Delap is now their priority target heading into the summer window – not least because his wage demands would be ‘significantly lower’ than Osimhen’s.

Additionally, he poses as a considerably cheaper option, as his contract contains a £40m release clause if the Tractor Boys fall victim to the dreaded drop come May.
