* Following his release from the Onitsha Correctional Centre where he spent 3 days, members of Nnobi community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State trouped out in their numbers to welcome their embattled President General, Barrister Dominic-Savio Okpala, who was dragged to court for allegedly attempting to change the constitution of the community against laid down procedures.
Speaking after he was taken round Afor market and other strategic places by his supporters, Barrister Okpala said enemies of progress in the community, particularly members of Awuda quarters and Igwe-In-Council, conspired to procure “Kangaroo justice” in order to nail him because he refused to work with a constitution fraudulently made.
Describing himself as man of peace, Barrister Okpala urged the traditional stool of the community to toe the path of peace, noting that efforts to enthrone peace in the community had been sabotage severally.
* Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed Nneoma Geraldine Mmuogbo as the Accountant General of the Local Governments.
Mmuogbo was confirmed following the report of the House Committee on Screening and Election Matters led by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Pius Okoye which was considered and adopted.
The nominee provided cogent and satisfactory answers to the questions put across to her, and was adjudged suitably qualified to serve as the Accountant General of Local Governments, Anambra State.
Anambra Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze while congratulating Mmuogbo on her new assignment, emphasized that the essence of the Confirmation was for her to be guided by the laws passed by the State Assembly.
The Speaker encouraged the Mmuogbo to establish a strong financial management base in all the Local Governments of the State. He mentioned the need for staff training and retraining, especially for mindset reorientation towards effective financial management of the Local Governments.
* Hon. Azubuike Okoye, a member of the Anambra State Local Government Commission and former member representing Anaocha Constituency one, has commended Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, the Mayor of Njikoka Local Government Council, for his exceptional leadership and the positive strides he has made in the local government area.
During a recent engagement, Hon. Okoye praised the Mayor for his dedication to improving the well-being of Njikoka residents, highlighting his efforts in various sectors such as infrastructure, education, and social development. He acknowledged the significant impact Barr. Ononiba has made in transforming Njikoka, noting that his leadership continues to inspire the community.
In response, Mayor Ononiba reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving the people of Njikoka with integrity and dedication. He promised to keep working diligently to fulfill the mission for which he was elected, ensuring the continued growth and prosperity of the local government area.
* Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Petitions at plenary considered and adopted the Petition against extortion and illegal hijack of the affairs of the Anambra State Tricycle Riders Association (ANTRA): The Commissioner for Transport was asked to give a written authority to ANTRA to manage its own affairs, particularly with regards to collection of fees, rates, dues, etc and the Petitioners to remit the agreed sum to the Government accordingly as directed by Mr Governor.
The lawmaker also adopted the Petition for the removal of the HRH Igwe Maximus Ike Oliobi (Owelle of Nimo): The Petition declined to decide on a matter before a Court.
And also the Petition over a complaint of victimization and illegal imposition of indefinite suspension against the Chairman of Anambra State Local Government Commission and the Mayor of Ekwusigo LGA: The Report was in favour of the Petitioner.
* The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State, Maku Olatunde has pledged to revitalize the NSCDC partnership with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to address the rising cases of violent crimes, and criminality among the youths.
Commandant Maku stated this when he played host to the Anambra State Coordinator, NDE, Mrs. Chika Ufelle at the State Command Headquarters Awka.
In her speech, Mrs Ufelle said NDE was established to combat mass unemployment through skills acquisition, self-employment and labour-intensive work schemes in order to equip youths with emerging skills that will enable them become globally competitive.
According to her, the Directorate (NDE) plays a vital role in combating poverty in Nigeria, and its significance has increased under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration with emphasis focused on creating employment opportunities and promoting economic growth through skills acquisition.
* Anambra State Police Command has observed the improved security stability in Ihiala and appreciates the people of the area for their cooperation and resilience in identifying the bad elements in the area.
This is following a painstaking investigation by the Joint Security Force in Ihiala acting on information received over time of faceless individuals/Criminals threatening kidnapping/Abduction, violence and cyberstalking to innocent individuals in the State, especially in Ihiala.

Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra Command “on 10th April 2025, our operatives arrested four suspects namely: Chimezie Ezebuo, Chinaza Ndimani, Chinecherem Okafor and Nzube Azubuike from Okohia, Ihiala.
The Operatives recovered phones and SIM cards used by the suspects to threaten their victims thereby causing panic in the area and jeopardizing the efforts of the security agencies and the general security of the State.
Meanwhile, all the suspects confessed to the crime and were taken into custody for further interrogations.
* Economic trees yielding millions of naira to the owners have been destroyed by a developer in Urum community, in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Farmlands being prepared for farming activities were also destroyed when the said developer invaded the Ochiokwa portion of land belonging to Urum Community without any legal backings.
The elders of Urum together with the town union executives have called on the Anambra state government to as a matter of urgency call the developer, Nwaguatahihia to order to avoid break down oflaw and order in the peaceful agrarian town.
The President General, Sir. Felix Ifebumma narrated that they had resolved that the developer and those who allegedly sold the land to him would be present at Ochiokwa to stand in front of their lands since they claimed ownership of Communal lands.
The land developer and Real Estate Mogul, High Chief Okechukwu Kingsley Chukwueme (Nwaguatahihia ) Properties had told journalsists that he bought the Ochiokwa land from the rightful owners in Urum contrary to speculations.
* The Chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba
has attended a retreat organized for the students of Family High School in Nimo.
Hon. Ononiba while speaking during the retreat, emphasized the importance of education in shaping a successful future and urged the students to remain focused and dedicated to their studies.
The Mayor reiterated the commitment of his administration to continue supporting education in the local government area, providing opportunities for growth and development.
In her speech, the Principal, Rev. Sis. Mariae Magdelena Oby Okoye maintained that the retreat, aimed at fostering personal development, leadership skills, and academic excellence, provided a unique opportunity for the students to engage with prominent leaders in the community.
The moderator of the retreat, Rev. Fr. Kelechi Obiorah in his remark, also thanked the Mayor for his passion for education as he has placed major priority
by imitating Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

* The on going construction work at Nwokedi and Edumund street including extensions 1, 2, 3,& 4 in Okpoko Ogbaru Council Area is in top gear.
It was observed that construction work is at the earth work, while drainage channels on both sides completed.
Work is also ongoing at the nearby sakamori which is meant to channel flood to River Niger.
Baring their minds on the on the development, some residents of the area, Mr.Thomas Agbala , Mrs Alice Igwe and Mr.Chinecherem Igwe said that the road stretched from Orumba to Imo street to AP Junction and connect the Onitsha-Owerri Road.
