Award-winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has taken a swipe at the administration of President Donald Trump in the United States, comparing it to the corrupt democratic systems often seen in Africa.
The renowned writer said the Trump administration reminds her of how a Nigerian government operates.
She stressed that the president’s administration “really does feel” as if America is being led by an “African big man.”
Speaking in a recent interview on the CBC network, shared on X Tuesday, Adichie said, “America no longer feels aspirational to me… The present administration in the U.S. just feels to me like a Nigerian government. It really does feel like America is being governed by an ‘African Big Man’.”
