Rivers Sole Administrator denies summoning Fubara

Vice Admiral Ibok-Etteh Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has dismissed reports circulating on social media that he summoned suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, for questioning.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 16, by Sir Dede Sampson Friday, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ibas described the reports as completely false and misleading.
“The Rivers State Government is aware of fake announcements being spread online, falsely attributed to the SSG’s office. These deceptive messages aim to misinform the public, incite panic, and disrupt the state’s peace,” the statement read.

One such fabricated post reportedly alleged that the governor and his deputy were summoned to the Government House to explain certain appointments and state-related matters.
However, the government stressed that no such directive was issued.
“The public should note that this announcement is entirely fake and did not come from any official source. Such misinformation is the handiwork of individuals bent on destabilising the state,” the statement added.
To curb the spread of false information, the government urged citizens to rely solely on verified channels such as the official Rivers State Government website (www.riversstate.gov.ng) and its authorised Facebook page.
Other official social media handles are currently undergoing review for relaunch.
The public was also advised to direct inquiries to the SSG’s office via +234 913 574 8442 and encouraged to verify any information before sharing.
The government emphasised the importance of unity and calm amid the state’s tense political climate.
