NSCDC Condemns illegal Private Security Operations In Anambra

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has vowed to step up its regulatory supervision as the only Federal Government approved regulatory body over private security guard companies in Anambra state.

Commandant Maku Olatunde, the NSCDC State Commandant stated when he played host to Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN) Anambra State Chapter at the State Command Headquarters Awka.

The NSCDC state boss emphasised the need for private security companies to operate professionally, updating their records and building cordial relationships with the NSCDC and other conventional security agencies.

He promised to enhance the activities of private security guard companies in Anambra State to conform with the laid-down procedures guiding the operations of PGCs in the country.

Commandant Maku urged ALPSPN to work closely with the Corps to eliminate and flush out quacks and unlicensed security operators in the state, encouraging them to gather and share credible intelligence information within their areas of responsibility with the Corps.

Dr. Okon Antai, Anambra Chapter Chairman of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria, reaffirmed his organization’s commitment to collaborating with the NSCDC to stamp out unlicensed security operators and enforce regulatory standards in the state.

According to him, the partnership will likely enhance the state’s security landscape by exclusively allowing licensed professionals to operate, protect members of the public and foster a safer environment for end – users/ clients through effective regulation and enforcement against illegitimate security providers.
