Herdsmen attacks: Chukwuemeziem Ekete to host Igbo youths in diaspora

Following the constant attacks by Fulani militias in the South-East, more especially, Enugu and Ebonyi State, Mr. Chukwuemeziem Ekete, aka, Wisdom Opara, has announced an emergency meeting of Igbo youths in Diaspora to address the killings in the region.

While making the announcement, Chukwuemeziem Ekete said it has become imperative to do something about the killings, as further silence could lead to invasions and permanent displacement of Igbo communities.

In a statement he made available to News Band Newspaper, Chukwuemeziem Ekete said: “We have decided to host Igbo Youths in Diaspora to know what must be done to stop the killings by criminal Fulani herdsmen. We in Diaspora must act now because the political leaders entrusted with the security of our people have failed to stop the marauders.

“We can no longer stand aside and watch while our people are massacred. We cannot continue to rely on compromised leaders and other actors that have failed. Here in Diaspora, we need to wake up, step in and find solution to this menace.

“The issue of Fulani herdsmen has turned into a nightmare and the attacks have reached a boiling point in the history of attacks on the Southern people of Nigeria; it’s now unbearable what the people pass through in the hands of Fulani herdsmen.

“The situation will worsen if we stay idle, hence there is lack of political will needed to end the bloodshed in the southern part of the country.

“Nigerians are killed on a daily basis without anyone fighting for them, and this desperate time calls for significant change. Political leaders of the Southeast extraction have failed to address the problem because they fear the powers that be. They also fear to confront the menace of Fulani herdsmen to please their masters.

“We are convening this meeting so that southern region could wake up from their slumber. Everything will be discussed, all cards will be on the table and no stone will be left unturned.

“In history, Igbo youths have a always stood up where there is evil. We have always stood against bloodshed of the innocent, and now is the time to come together and act.

“The maiden meeting of Igbo Youths will be hosted in the United Kingdom and subsequent meetings to be hosted across Europe and Asia to find a common ground to stop Fulani invasion.”
