CoAS calls for sacrifices to ensure a peaceful, secured Nigeria

In a recent address to the troops, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, emphasized the importance of making sacrifices to maintain peace and security across Nigeria.

Specifically, he delivered this message during his visit to the 22 Armoured Brigade, Nigerian Army Institute of Science Education and Technology, and the Nigerian Army College of Education in Ilorin.

According to a press release by Lt Col. Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, shared via the Nigerian Army’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on April 23, 2025, General Oluyede reaffirmed his dedication to improving troop welfare. Notably, he pledged to upgrade barracks infrastructure, enhance educational facilities for soldiers’ children, and improve medical services for their families. Furthermore, he promised to provide essential kits and operational platforms to boost efficiency.

The COAS highlighted the recent increase in the troops’ Ration Cash Allowance as a key motivator for continued sacrifices. He emphasized that peace is a prerequisite for national development and urged troops to eliminate all security threats. Additionally, he directed them to prevent criminals from gaining a foothold in Kwara State or elsewhere.

General Oluyede reminded the troops that Nigerians depend on them for safety and unity. Moreover, he assured them of his full support in accomplishing their missions. Meanwhile, during the visit, senior officers, including Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, Brigadier General Damian Dieke, and Brigadier General Chidi Echebiwe, briefed him on their operations and challenges.

This call to action underscores the COAS’s dual focus on welfare and operational readiness. Ultimately, his strategy aims to foster a secure and peaceful Nigeria through collective effort and commitment.
