BPP to launch digital certification portal in Abuja

Abuja, April 29, 2025 — In a bold move, the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) will unveil its Nigeria Procurement Certification Platform.

This event is scheduled for April 30, 2025, at the UBEC Digital Resource Centre in Abuja, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s reform journey.

During a press briefing at the Presidential Villa, Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, Director-General of BPP, announced the initiative.

He emphasized that the NPCP is a pioneering program designed to centralize training, assessment, and certification for procurement professionals across Nigeria.

Moreover, the NPCP aims to enhance the professionalization of procurement practices within both public and private sectors.

By equipping procurement officers with essential skills, the initiative seeks to ensure effective management of public resources.

Importantly, the NPCP is part of the Sustainable Procurement Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement (SPESSE) Project.

This project, implemented in collaboration with the World Bank, reinforces value for money, compliance, and accountability.

Dr. Adebowale expressed gratitude to key stakeholders, including the World Bank and the Secretary to the Government.

He highlighted the engagement of civil society organizations to address stakeholder needs, fostering a competent and ethical procurement workforce.

As Nigeria prepares for this significant launch, BPP urges all participants to embrace the new platform. This decisive step aims to establish a professional, competent, and accountable procurement cadre across the nation.
