FCT Police command recovers stolen vehicles, arrests eight suspects, including couples

Abuja, April 29, 2025 — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command successfully recovered three stolen vehicles and arrested eight suspects.
Notably, among those apprehended is a husband-and-wife duo, whose involvement in the crimes reflects a sophisticated operation.
The operation commenced on April 19, 2025, after a report of a stolen gold Toyota Corolla emerged.

The Command’s Scorpion Squad promptly acted on this report and arrested Yusuf Yunusa.
Subsequently, further investigation led to the arrest of his wife, Blessing Yusuf, on April 25 in Kwali Area Council.
During questioning, Mrs. Yusuf confessed to purchasing Toyota master keys from the Jumia online marketplace.
She revealed that her husband used these keys to steal vehicles, and she created distractions to assist him in committing the thefts.
In a separate incident on April 28, 2025, police responded to a car buyer’s report about a suspicious black Mercedes-Benz.
Investigations uncovered that the vehicle was stolen from Lekki, Lagos, prompting the arrest of five suspects: Idris Suleiman, Isiyaku Habibu, Ganiyu Sadiq, Idowu Akintunde, and Bello Muyideen.
The suspects admitted to stealing the vehicle from their employer, leading to the successful recovery of the stolen car.
Similarly, police operatives from Mabushi Division acted on credible intelligence regarding a missing driver and an unregistered Toyota Hilux.
They tracked Mr. Chinwenze Chinaza’s missing driver, George Idung, to his village in Eket LGA, Akwa Ibom State.
There, they arrested him while attempting to sell the vehicle, ensuring both the driver and vehicle are now in police custody.
Currently, all eight suspects remain detained and will face charges in court upon investigation completion.
The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Ajao S. Adewale, urges residents to install tracking devices in vehicles.
Additionally, he advises avoiding isolated parking areas and verifying vehicle ownership before purchases.
The FCT Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order within the territory.
