India government has officially banned imports of goods originating from or transiting through Pakistan.
The ban follows a deadly militant attack on tourists in the disputed Kashmir region.
The States Directorate General of Foreign Trade announced the ban on Friday, May 2, 2025.
The agency stated that the restriction takes effect immediately.
“This restriction is imposed in the interest of national security and public policy,” the notification read.

Suspected militants killed at least 26 tourists in Pahalgam, a popular mountain destination in Indian-administered Kashmir.
