Labour Party chieftain in Anambra resigns

A chieftain of the Labour Party in Anambra State, Arc. Emeka O. Ekwueme, has officially resigned from the party.

Ekwueme’s departure from the party was confirmed in a letter dated May 1, 2025 and directed Mr. Chudi Nwaizugbe, the chairman of the LP, Oko Ward 1, in Orumba North Local Government Area of the State.

He cited the incessant and unending crisis about the party’s leadership and the numerous court cases that come with it as reason for resigning from the party.

Chief Emeka accused the Labour Party of losing focus on the Nigerian Project and instead, has been consumed by personal ambitions of a few individuals.

The letter reads: This letter is to officially inform you of my resignation from Labour Party Oko Ward 1.

“The main reason for my resignation from this party is due to the incessant and unending squabbles about the party’s leadership and the numerous court cases that come with it.

“The party has lost its focus on the
Nigerian Project and instead has been consumed by personal ambitions of a few individuals.

“A house this divided can not stand.
I wish to use this opportunity to especially thank everyone in Labour Partythat in one way or the other made my stay in the party a great
experienceof a lifetime.

“I wish you all the very best in your future endeavors.”
