A Kenyan woman, Akinyi Hellen, has taken to Facebook to publicly accuse her younger sister of betrayal, alleging she had an affair with her husband despite years of sacrifice for the sister.
In her emotional post dated Saturday, May 3, 2025, Hellen described how she took on a parental role after their parents’ separation, raising her younger sister and ensuring she received a quality education.
Hellen noted that she is 13 years older and has always treated her sister like her own child.
Despite all her efforts, Hellen claimed her sister repaid her by having an affair with her partner.
Though she initially forgave the betrayal, Hellen alleged that the situation worsened as her sister continued to harbour jealousy, spread false stories about her, and turned mutual friends against her.
“She pretends to be soft-spoken and innocent in public, but behind my back, she tells people I’m wicked,” Hellen wrote.
She further disclosed that she had recently discovered her sister had been texting the father of her child, frequently asking him for money.
Although she initially ignored it, but later decided to confront the issue after it became a repeated pattern.
Hellen expressed deep frustration, saying the betrayal has made her reconsider her views on marriage and even on having more children.
“I don’t want my daughter to go through what I’ve experienced in the name of family,” she lamented.
She ended her post by asking for advice, saying she felt isolated and had no one else to turn to.
The post has since sparked widespread conversation online, with users offering words of support and sharing their own experiences of family betrayal.
