# Anambra State Government has reminded Individuals and Corporate bodies in the state that conducting medical missions or outreaches without prior Ministry of Health approval is prohibited.
This was contained in a circular from the State Ministry of Health made public and signed by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike.
The circular titled, ‘Attention: General Public, Communities, NGOs Faith-Based Organizations, Public and Private Health Facility Owners among other stipulations stated:
# The Anambra State Government has urged residents to actively participate in the ongoing comprehensive campaign against the indiscriminate disposal of plastics and other waste across the state.
This call was made during a symposium organized by the Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA), in collaboration with The PReP Project, the Anambra Waste Recyclers Association (ASWARA), and the Statewide Environment Education Foundation (SWEEP Foundation), to mark the 2025 World Environment Day, held in Awka.
Speaking on the theme “Citizens and Corporate Participation as a Solution to Plastic Pollution in Anambra State,” the Anambra State Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Felix Odimegwu, emphasized the crucial role of both individual citizens and corporate organizations in combating plastic pollution and strengthening waste management practices across the state.
Dr. Odimegwu, who described waste as a potential economic asset, outlined various methods of waste disposal and plastic collection that could generate income for residents.
# Director of Sickle Cell Orphanage and underprivileged home in Agulu Mrs. Aisha Edward Maduagwu has empowered fifty individuals including women, youths with cash, equipments and tools to support their small business and dreams.
The maiden edition of the entrepreneurship and empowerment program was held on Friday at Amatutu Community in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
In her address, Anchor and facilitator of Mrs. Aisha Edward Maduagwu, said its a journey towards progress and prosperity.
# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has launched a ten million naira education grants for undergraduates, as well as student nurses in Colleges of Nursing Sciences.
In his remark at the event held at House of Assembly Complex, Rt. Hon. Udeze said the initiative will help alleviate the financial burdens faced by many Ogbaru students.
The Speaker encouraged the students to remain steadfast, focused, morally upright, avoid distractions and make the most of the opportunities provided for them.
Udeze reaffirmed his commitment to investing in human capital through direct support to students from Ogbaru Local Government Area currently in tertiary institutions.
# The Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Patrick Agha Mba, has called on youths across the state to rise to their civic responsibilities, saying it is golden time for them to play their own part in building a greater Anambra under Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s Solution Agenda.
The Commissioner made the call while addressing youth leaders from various communities in the state during the maiden edition of their leadership training workshop held at the ASATU Hall, Government House, Awka.
The two-day workshop, themed “The Role of ASATU Youth in Deepening and Consolidating Leadership, Security, Governance and Value System for Community Development in Line with the Solution Agenda of the Soludo Administration,” was organized by the Anambra State Association of Town Union Youth Wing (ASATU Youth), in collaboration with the Office of the Accountant-General of Local Government and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Awka. It also enjoyed strategic support from the Ministry of Youth Development and the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Community Affairs.
# The Solution Innovation District (SID) has been announced as the official headline sponsor of SMFest Awka 2025, marking a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating innovation, digital adoption, and entrepreneurship among young people in Anambra State and the broader Southeast region.
Addressing newsmen in Awka, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, Ms. Chinwe Okoli, ‘SMFest Awka, now in its second year, is Southeast Nigeria’s premier platform for empowering young people with digital/creative skills, entrepreneurial insight, and transformative ideas.
The 2025 edition, themed “Disrupt and Evolve,”is a rallying call for youth to challenge the status quo, innovate boldly, and build scalable solutions for the future.
# The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) have agreed to strengthen institutional collaboration on election security and monitoring to mitigate violence and enhance pre- election intelligence ahead of Anambra State governorship election slated for Saturday November 8, 2025.
The duo made the pledge when Commandant Maku Olatunde, the Anambra State Commandant of NSCDC, received on an advocacy visit delegation from Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) a non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organization led by Oluwafemi John Adebanjo, Head of Research and Strategy, at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters, Awka.
Commandant Maku, represented by Deputy Commandant Akaachia Godwin, Head of Administration lauded KDI’s advocacy visit stating that reliable data on election monitoring from independent organizations like KDI would mitigate the risk of violence.
The NSCDC State helmsman promised to leverage on KDI collation feedback from its security assessments of key aspects of the country’s electoral processes to advance electoral security in the forthcoming Anambra Election.
# The Solution Vanguard of the Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA) Chapter,
under the leadership of Comrade Ikechukwu Obiora, paid a courtesy visit to Mayor of Njikoka, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba.
In his remark, the coordinator, Comrade
Ikechukwu Obiora said the visit was aimed at fostering a collaborative relationship and discussing key initiatives beneficial to Ndi Njikoka. He expressed appreciation for the Mayor’s ongoing efforts in developing Njikoka community and highlighted areas where the Solution Vanguard aims to contribute positively.
Responding, the Chairman of Njikoka LGA
appreciated the proactive steps taken by the Solution Vanguard and expressed a keen interest in potential collaborations.
He assured the delegation of his support and willingness to work closely with community-oriented groups to achieve common objectives. He also urged the team to spread the good news and works of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to the grassroots.
# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has conveyed his deep grief over the demise of renowned Nigerian highlife icon, Chief Mike Ejeagha, who passed on peacefully on Saturday at the venerable age of 95.
In his condolence message, signed by Mr.
Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to the Governor, Soludo eulogised Chief Ejeagha as a deeply philosophical musician, an iconic cultural ambassador and an exemplary custodian of Igbo oral traditions.
The Governor recalled that with timeless compositions like the unforgettable “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo,” the late musical legend not only entertained but also educated Nigerians, preserving our rich cultural heritage and promoting the vibrancy of Igbo folklore through his lyrics.
