# Business owners living in Idemili North LGA, Anambra State has been urged to pay up their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) levies to avoid sealing up their business premises.

In a press release authorized by the Chairman of Idemili North, Chief Stanley Nkwoka, the payment of the LG IGR levies was necessary to sustain the developmental projects ongoing.

The Mayor maintained that saying that the IGR Compliance/Enforcement Team will commence drive on June 18, 2025 to check defaulters.

According to the press release, a lot of developmental works are ongoing to give Idemili North a facelift. It will only continue if people pay their taxes and revenue.

 

# Nnewi, Anambra South zone has concluded its qualifiers for the ANSSI state round, with schools emerging victorious.

In the Under-12 Male Football Category, Akwunweke Primary School Nnewi secured a 1-0 win against Oheneleke Primary School Ukpor.

The winning goal was scored by Ikenna Udezuka in the second half with a stunning freekick. Ikenna Udezuka who played to the delight of fans and other student is tip to be a future star.

Boys Secondary School Oraifite triumphed in the U14 Male Football Category, defeating Harvester School Nnewi 2-1.

In a entertaining game, the Boys from Oraifite won at the dead end of the game through their skipper, Ndukwe Chiemerie . The game was heading into the penalty shootout when Chiemerie did the unthinkable.

 

# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese on the Niger, Rt. Rev. Owen Nwokolo as a true Priest whose service to God and humanity has been glorious.

Felicitating Bishop Nwokolo on behalf of the State Legislature, as he marks his birthday, Udeze praised him for his sound theological and evengelical exploits in the Diocese and beyond, noting that the Anglican Diocese on the Niger has remained pivotal and maintained visible leadership among other Dioceses in the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion.

The Speaker expressed gladness that Bishop Nwokolo has been able to transform the Diocese both spiritually and physically through expansion of parishes and engagement in revival programmes in the Diocese.

 

# Members of the Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder, (APLSD), in Anambra State, have honoured its departed colleagues.

The annual event held at Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home, Agulu in Anaocha LGA, Anambra, was in commemoration of 2025 World Sickle Cell Day in the state.

The National Coordinator, APLSD, Mrs Aisha Edward Maduagwu, in her speech said the event is an opportunity to
reflect on the journey they have traversed and the milestones achieved.

Maduagwu who is also the Director of Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home Agulu, maintained that the association has made significant strides in advocating for the rights and welfare of individuals living with sickle cell disorder.

# In a bold step toward rejuvenating moral values and social responsibility among young people, the Anambra State Civic and Social Reformation Office (ANCISRO) has taken its sensitisation campaign to schools and College of the Master, Awka is the first of many schools.

The outreach, which held during the school’s morning assembly, is part of a state-wide initiative to combat the rising tide of social vices threatening youth development.

The enlightenment session, held under the theme ‘The Deceptions in What You See and the Reality of What They Are,’ organised by ANCISRO with the collaboration of a non-governmental organisation, the Foundation for Attitude Repair (FAR).

Speaking during the event, Managing Director of ANCISRO, Chuka Nnabuife, delivered a compelling message underscoring the urgent need for a moral rebirth among today’s youth. In his address, he emphasized that young people must reclaim the time-tested values that have given birth to responsible and productive citizens.

He identified four core principles — planning, time management, integrity, and faith in God/prayer — as essential foundations for personal growth and sustainable success.

 

# Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, Mayor of Njikoka LGA, has commended lawmaker Hon. Jude Akpua for fulfilling his campaign promise of giving (fifty thousand naira) ₦50,000 to every polling unit that APGA won in the 2023 Njikoka II House of Assembly Election.

The Mayor praised the APGA faithful for their dedication and support, which contributed to Hon. Jude Akpua’s electoral success.

He urged the party faithful to rally behind Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the November 8 gubernatorial election, emphasizing Njikoka’s historical support for APGA.

Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba declared that Njikoka is “non-negotiable” for Governor Soludo’s re-election, highlighting the Governor’s transformative impact on Anambra State.

 

# Solution Football Club of Anambra State have winded off their season and embarked on an off-season long break following the just concluded 2024/25 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.

Chairman of the club, Chief Chukwuma Ezeamama eulogized the playing personnel, technical crew and the management team for their dedication, cooperation and team spirit displayed throughout the season.

Ezeamama stated that despite not securing a playoffs spot for possible promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) which was the target hitherto, the club remains grateful to God for an injury free and seamless campaign while also thanking the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for providing the platform to play in the second tier of Nigerian club football.

Solution FC ended the season finishing 5th on the Southern Conference Group B log with 29 points amassed in 20 League matches, the club this season also reached the Round of 16 of the 2025 President Federation Cup losing to eventual finalist, Kwara United having initially upended NPFL club Lobi Stars FC and Eagles Stars FC in the round of 32 and 64 respectively.

# Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi, the Mayor of Idemili-South LGA says no politician will deceive Anambra people again with all manner of fake promises as the state prepares for the November 8th governorship election.

Obi who made the declarative statement at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka while addressing women at the inaugural ceremony of Solution Ladies Movement of Nigeria, said Anambra people now know the truth and they have resolved not to trade their conscience for crumbs and peanuts from those she described as marauding desperate politicians plotting to dupe the state in the guise of governorship aspirations.

Obi stated that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has shown Anambra people the truth with his governance model as clearly evident in the three years he has stayed in office. She maintained that if the governor could perform magic in three years, one wonders what will happen in another five years with him on the saddle.

# The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has carried out a flood disaster response and sensitization exercise for Nigeria’s South East Zone.

The initiative aims to equip residents of flood-prone communities with the knowledge and tools needed to mitigate the impact of seasonal flooding.

The event, held at Okoti, Ogbaru Local Government Area, follows recent predictions by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) indicating a high risk of flooding in parts of the country, including Ogbaru.

Addressing attendees, NEMA’s Director of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Kenneth Oyong, emphasized the urgency of public awareness, noting that the simulation exercise is part of proactive steps to educate communities on how to respond during emergencies, and assured the public of NEMA’s readiness to deploy rescue operations, and distributed relief materials to displaced persons .
