Anambra Govt Remove Nimo PG, Inaugurates Caretaker Committee

Anambra State Government in view of the security crisis steaming from Nimo Town as a result of two parties laying claim to the leadership of Nimo Town Development Union (NTDU) has desolved
the administration led by Engr. Dan Zeelunjo Anakpe.
To avoid vacuum and ensure the smooth administration of the community as well as pave way for a new leadership structure, the State Government appointed an interim committee for a period of three months.
The interim committee are; Sir Fredrick Obodoeze (Chairman). Mr. Ike Anthony Okoye (Vice Chairman), Mr, Patrick Ugwu (Secretary), Engr. Ikenna Okwonkwo (Member), Engr. Ifeanyi Anyaegbu (Member), Mr. Uche Mbekwe (Member), Mr. Uche Ayagwu (Member), Mr Patrick Isiogu (Member), Mr. Linus Nwaokonkwo (Member), Mr. Tochukwu Emesile (Member) and Mr. Sunday Obananya (Member).
Considering the resolution from the meetings involving the two faction with Njikoka Local government Mayor, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, the Commissioner for local government and Town Union matters and considering the interest of maintaining peace within the community, the interim committee was inaugurated.
According to a letter signed by Anambra Commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, made available to Angel Network News (ANN), the terms of reference of the interim committee are;
” That the Committee Shall not have any authority or jurisdiction over matters patterning ot Ani-Owe land. They shall not sell land or transfer title to anyone whatsoever.
” That the Committee shall not over see the administration of Oye Nimo market.
” That the Committee shall take steps to conduct and organize election by December 27, 2025.
” Every citizen of Nimo is qualified to contest the town union election including the immediate past executive of Nimo.
” Every village in Nimo should provide or nominate five persons for security profiling that will be part of Agunechemba Security unit of Nimo.
