# Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), at the 12th meeting of the year awarded a contract award of N72,598,200.88 to Achufusi Ventures for the relocation and expansion of the Solution Hub & Park at Aroma Junction, Awka.
“A contract award of N414,907,757.85 to Navigator Sign Ltd for the construction of an increte walkway and flooring, installation of kerbs, and aesthetic enhancement of the Ekwulobia Flyover.
“A payment of N340,936,079.62 to Hemebs Construction Ltd for additional works and fluctuations on the construction of a six-hall high court building complex.
“A payment of N790,241,598.42 to O Ben Developers Ltd for additional works and fluctuations on the construction of 17 unit dwellings (duplexes) and ancillary facilities at the new Commissioners’ Quarters, Awka.
“A payment of N62,867,234.16 to B & O Ltd for rate fluctuations on the construction of additional perimeter fencing, stormwater drainage culverts, and chain-like fences at the Safari Park, Agulu Lake.

# Youths of Ihiala LGA have been urged to become more actively involved in security, mobilising for good governance and the development of a better society. They have also been asked to always develop a positive attitude to government.
The call was made by the Managing Director of the Anambra State Civic and Social Reformation Office (ANCISRO), Chuka Nnabuife, who delivered the keynote lecture at a One-Day Interactive Youth Summit.
The event was organised by Hon. Eze-Golden Chukwuebuka Iloh, the Anambra State House of Assembly member representing Ihiala 2.
Speaking at the theme of the summit, which took place at the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) Hall, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Okija, Ihiala LGA, Sir Nnabuife urged youths in the constituency to maintain a positive outlook on society and governance while playing active roles in civic affairs.
# Mr. Michael Okoi, a security personnel has gotten a ‘life sentence judgement’ for
allegedly having unlawful sexual intercourse with a 17yr-old girl hawking “Okpa” at a Filling Station along Onitsha – Asaba Expressway, Upper Iweka.
Mr. Okoi, aged 23, on 11th May 2024 raped the 17 old, an offence contrary to Section 3(2) of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition and Protection) Laws of Anambra State, 2017.
Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Sylvia Ifemeje, described as landmark the ‘life sentence judgement’, noting that the judgement is one that sends a signal that the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration has zero tolerance for all forms of gender-based violence in the state.
# Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), at the 12th meeting of the year has fixed Saturday, 28th of June, 2025, as the day to open the Solution Fun City to the public and approved a foremost Anambra State-born Nigerian music icon, Chinedu Okoli, better known by his stage name, Flavour N’abania or simply Flavour, to lead a band of other notable musicians such as Umu-Obiligbo and others to the grand fiesta. The event is open to members of the public who wish to attend.
# The grand finale of the 2025 C-Unit Football Tournament lived up to expectations as Washington Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha, outshined St. Charles College, Onitsha, with a dominant 5-1 victory to clinch the championship title and one million naira grand prize.
Played at the Washington School field, Onitsha, in Onitsha North LGA, the match marked the end of this season’s tournament, bringing weeks of thrilling football action to a close.
In their separate interviews, the hosts of the tournament, Messrs Onyedikachi and Onyebuchi Ike, also known as C-Unit, said they were impressed with the tournament from the group stages to the finals.
They congratulated every player, coaches, officials, game masters, school authorities, and host communities for their active roles in making the tournament a success.
# The Chairman of Anaocha Local Goverment, Comrade Rome Ibekwe, has flagged off the rehabilitation of Ezeani Ohu Ehi, Chief Mathias Ezeje crescents and Professor Anthony Ezeife Umuabu village road Adazi -Enu.
At the road rehabilitation which will take the contractor about two months to complete and worth millions of naira, works is already advancing; as caterpillars and other equipments were seen doing the primary aspects on the 2.8kilometer road.
Comrade Ibekwe in his speech during the flag-off, said he came to fulfill the promise made, adding that the road will ease traffic, connect and shorten movement of people, calling on every onye Anaocha to stand strong with Governor Chukwuma Soludo come November 8 2025.
# Chief Jude Emecheta has tendered his resignation as Senior Special Assistant on Administration to the Governor of Anambra State.
Although Government House has yet to issue a formal statement, several insiders confirmed the development on condition of anonymity.
In his resignation letter, Dr Emecheta wrote, “It is with pain, but also with immense gratitude, that I thank you for the opportunity to serve in your administration over the past two and a half years.”
He praised the Governor for “graciously honouring me with this appointment despite the many other qualified persons available,” and closed with the customary courtesies, suggesting an amicable disengagement.
# Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), at the 12th meeting of the year which took at the Light House, decided to build a rehabilitation centre at Nibo, Awka Capital Territory, to address the state’s mental health issues.
This will allow those who leave the state’s asylums to access rehabilitation facilities that provide all the services they need to fully heal before returning to their families and communities.

Anambra State, the Council further reflected on the proposed Anambra Rebirth Programme and determined that the programme’s blueprint should address a number of important issues to achieve its main objectives, such as the restoration of the Igbo Apprenticeship system (Igba Boi), the return to hard work and integrity, the criminalisation of obscenities, especially the flaunting of money, and warped ideologies of wealth without work.
The Council also considered and approved several contract awards, including a contract award of N417,319,619.85 to Triseconds Resources Ltd for the construction and modelling of the State Rehabilitation Centre at Nibo, Awka Capital Territory.
# The Commissioner of Police, CP. Ikioye Orutugu on Monday, received the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Mrs Chioma Irene Amuzie and the Head of Federal Establishments in Anambra State, Mr. Chijoke Okechukwu in his Office at the Command, Awka.
Their visit aims to jointly develop plans and address specific security challenges in Oko and especially around the Polytechnic and other Federal Government facilities in the State.
The CP during their interaction sought greater cooperation from the Management of the Polytechnic to help the Police serve them better. He regretted the unfortunate incident, of 19th June 2025 which according to an eyewitness account revealed how armed criminals operating with a motorcycle and black Lexus 350 SUV without a plate number, started shooting indiscriminately at the Total junction wounding four persons including a lady. The hoodlums abducted two other people at the Tipper junction before they fled the scene.
In their remarks, the Rector of the School, Dr (Mrs) Chioma Irene Amuzie as well as Mr Chijoke Okechukwu, the Head of Federal Establishments in Anambra State thanked the Police for their prompt response at the scene of the incident as it prevented further loss of life and properties.
# Members of Enugwu Agidi community in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State, staged a peaceful protest against the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), decrying years of alleged extortion and exploitation through estimated billing, despite little or no electricity supply.
The protest, which drew hundreds of residents including youths and the elderly was held at the EEDC office in Enugwu Agidi.
Speaking during the protest, Comrade Onwuora Chinedu, the convener of the South East Electricity Consumers Association, Enugwu Agidi Chapter, described the protest as necessary and overdue.
According to him, the EEDC continues to issue high electricity bills to the community without supplying power.
