Anambra: NSCDC Assures Of Enhanced Security, Seeks Citizens Cooperation

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has assured Anambra residents of enhanced security, urging them to partner with them in its task of providing the much needed security of lives and property.

Commandant Maku Olatunde, the NSCDC Anambra State Commandant stated this recently when he received on a familiarization visit, Forum of Heads of Federal Establishments in Anambra State led by the Chairman, Dr. Ogbonna Blessing at the State Command Headquarters Awka.
Olatunde praised the establishment of the association, which aims to foster synergy and provide a platform for all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to showcase their histories, share the impact of their operations, and discuss challenges, among other objectives.
The State NSCDC boss stated that the Corps, which plays a vital role in the grassroots security system, would continue to fulfill its responsibility of protecting lives and property.
He emphasized the importance of timely information from the public to aid the Corps in reducing the level of crime and criminality across the state, noting that there is very little the Corps and other security agencies can do without public support and cooperation .
Describing citizens as key stakeholders especially in volunteering information on suspected criminal activities in their surroundings, the NSCDC State helmsman appealed for cooperation in ending illegal dealings on petroleum products, quackery in private security practices, illegal mining operations and vandalism of critical national, state and local government assets.
Commandant Maku stressed that security is a collective responsibility and encouraged citizens to have faith in the NSCDC and share information, promising that their safety and identities would be fully protected.
The Association of Heads of Federal Establishments, Anambra State Chapter Chairman, Dr. Ogbonna Blessing while commending NSCDC operatives for their gallantry and professionalism, said, aside from catering for the welfare and progress of the members, the association plays informal mornitoring role on what members are doing in their respective Establishments.
Ogbonna expressed appreciation to the State Commandant for the warm reception, promising on behalf of the forum members to provide valuable information on any criminal activities noticed to aid the command’s operations.
