NUJ Honours Anambra Police Commissioner As ‘Best Crime Fighter’

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP. Ikioye Orutugu has been honoured with the prestigious award of “Best Crime Fighter – Man of the Year 2025” by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory Council.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the award, which was presented at a special event held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja, during FCT Press Week Lecture and Awards Ceremony.
NUJ at the event themed “Journalism in a Changing World: Press Freedom, Media, Democracy and Society”, recognized the CP Orutugu’s exceptional leadership, dedication to duty, and strategic approach to crime prevention and community safety in Anambra State.
The NUJ FCT Council, in its citation, commended CP Orutugu for his professionalism, transparency, and unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law, which has restored public confidence and improved security across the State.
CP Orutugu, while receiving the award, dedicated it to the gallant officers of the Command and reaffirmed his resolve to continue working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all residents and visitors in Anambra State.
The Police boss assured ndi Anambra State of its continued commitment to service, professionalism, and excellence in policing.
To witness the award presentation include the Inspector General of Police represented by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 7, represented by ACP Odugbesan O. and other senior officers and stakeholders of the State.
ANN gathered that under Orutugu, Anambra State has recorded significant milestones in combating violent crimes, dismantling criminal syndicates, fostering community policing, and enhancing collaboration with sister security agencies and stakeholders.
The Command views this recognition as not just a personal achievement for CP Orutugu, but as a testament to the hard work and sacrifice of the entire officers and men of the Anambra State Police Command.
