# The Chairman of Anambra West LGA, Hon. Fidelis Nnazor has unveiled a ten shuttle buses mass transit scheme for an enhanced development and ease of transportation in the area.
Hon. Nnazor in his address during the event held at the at the local government’s secretariat Nzam, said that Anambra West is the food basket of the state, and that the initiative was conceptualized as a child of necessity to ensure smooth movement of goods and services of his people.
The Mayor commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his numerous developmental strides in the local government area.
Hon. Nnazor further appreciated the Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon. TonnyCollins Nwabumwanne, for his support to the council area, and urged the shuttle bus drivers to make adequate use of the opportunity to become self reliant.
# The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) at its 17th meeting held on July 30, 2025, at the Light House, Awka, awarded the construction of 3.2km Nri-Agbanagbo-Nimo Road.
The project was awarded to Lebtech Construction Ltd at the cost of N1.65 billion naira.
Anambra Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, in a press release stated that the apex body reached many significant decisions, including:
“The Restoration of the name, Abakaliki Street, which was renamed Club Road in 2018, by the then administration, was well received by the Council.
The restoration was done to correct what ANSEC called ‘a historic mistake’ and to restore the historical significance of the street.
The council reiterated the oneness of the Igbo ethnic group, seeing states in the zone as mere administrative conveniences and not identities.
“The Power Project for Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City (AMIC) was reported to be ready soonest, signalling a major first step towards activating the Anambra Industrial Park, ready for investors.
” Construction of a One-Story Building Student Centre at Nwafor Orizu College. The Contractor of the project is Ozoh United Ventures Nig Ltd, and it will cost
N596,759,814.56
# The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, in adherence to its core mandate of disaster prevention, mitigation, and management, has advised residents of Anambra State, particularly those living in flood-prone communities, to relocate to safer areas due to the predicted potential flooding warned by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMET) and the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA).
Commandant Maku Olatunde, the NSCDC Anambra State Commandant stated this on Wednesday, 30 July, 2025 after accessing the preparedness of the Command’s Disaster management Unit as precautionary measures to avert flood disasters.
The Anambra NSCDC boss said the command as a proactive measures in mitigating against flooding associated with the rainy season has embarked on public awareness/ advocacy visits especially on high risk communities to educate and enlighten the public on the inherent dangers of flood, stressing the need for all and sundry to adopt measures especially relocation advisories to avert the impending disaster.
The State Commandant has also directed the Deputy Commandant Nnadi Ngozi in charge of Disaster Management Unit to mobilize emergency team of personnel to flood-prone areas, intensify public awareness and sensitization campaigns across all media platforms, and collaborate with traditional rulers, President Generals, and other relevant stakeholders in disaster management across the state.

Oli, a great philanthropist in Nri kingdom is incidentally one of the principal lawyers to the state billionaire oil magnate, Prince Arthur Ézè who had already thrown his weight behind Soludo’s re-election.
Apparently, following the footsteps of Arthur Eze, he told newsmen in Awka that he has concluded arrangements for a grand reception of Soludo in his Nri kingdom so that his people will publicly declare their support unequivocally for his re-election.
# The President General of ASMATA, Chief Humphrey Anuna, has applauded

Anambra Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, in a press release stated that ANSEC also approved the Provision of Adequate Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Facilities at Chief Jerome Udoji State Secretariat, Awka, was also awarded to Kennolly Enterprises, with the sum of N172,655,979.47
“Supply and Installation of Solar Home Systems and Power; Solar Street Lights and Earthing of Anambra Broadcasting Service Stations, was also approved with the sum of N420,632,462.21
” Construction of Solar-Powered Borehole and Rehabilitation of 5 No. Non-Functional Boreholes at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli Campus, which was awarded to Form-Annex Associates Ltd, with the sum of N177,282,725.00.
” Supply and Installation of 2No 500 KVA/33/0.415 KV Transformers, with the sum of N92,146,708.00.
” Provision of Hybrid Power Driven Water Supply Schemes to Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN). The contract will be handled by Kolc Ventures, with the sum of N209,272,864.13
” Supply and Installation of Electrical and Mechanical Appurtenances at General Hospital, Anaku. It was awarded to Rolgard Integrated Projects, with the sum of N56,272,865.99.
# The Anambra First Lady, Dr Nonye Soludo, has emerged as the winner of the First Lady of the Year (Health-Care & Child Support) at the 2025 Nigerian Humanitarian Awards & Magazine.
The award follows an open nationwide nomination and public voting process that drew thousands of responses from citizens and humanitarian observers across the country.
Organised by the ‘Humanitarian Achievement and Outreach Foundation’, the award recognises Dr. Soludo’s remarkable leadership and humanitarian contributions through her “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo” initiative, a campaign focused on community health awareness, maternal and child care, nutritional education, and support for underprivileged families in rural and urban areas of Anambra State.
In a statement, the Founder and Convener of the Nigerian Humanitarian Awards, Emmanuel Anabueze, praised Dr Soludo, for leading with humility and action.
# The Labour Party (LP) has sacked its former leadership and constituted an interim executive committee to oversee and reposition the party in Anambra State.
According to a statement jointly signed by the Interim National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Esther Usman and interim National Secretary, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, the new leadership is led by Okoye Peter as Chairman and former Chairman of NLC, Comrade Jerry Nnubia as Secretary.
Other members of the team include: John Odili (Vice Chairman 1), Donatus Odaba (Vice Chairman 2), Pius Okeke (Vice Chairman 3), Frank Ejike Chidebelu (Vice Chairman 4), Chidalu Ike (Vice Chairman 5) and Lactricia Njideka Uju, Esq. (Vice Chairman 6).
