Anambra Govt Cautions Against Misinformation, Disinformation, Awards More Contract

The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) at the 17th meeting of the year, held on 7th August, 2025, at the Light House Awka, cautioned against the spread of misinformation and disinformation, urging citizens to rely on credible sources for information and to verify facts before sharing.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the warning aims to promote a peaceful and informed environment, particularly in the lead-up to the upcoming elections in Anambra State.

ANSEC also received and reviewed the following memos and approved the projects pleaded:

“Amichi-Osumenyi Road will be rehabilitated and completed by the Anambra Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA) for N670,968,919.05 (six hundred and seventy million, nine hundred and sixty-eight thousand, nine hundred and nineteen naira, five kobo only).

” A contract worth N2,754,734,086.72 (two billion, seven hundred and fifty-four million, seven hundred and thirty-four thousand, eighty-six naira, seventy-two kobo only) was given to BENEJAF INT’L LTD by the Council for the construction of the Ugwuaku-Ibugughu-Osu-Umuchu Road.

“St. Stephen – Isiokwe Road Construction Contract Award was awarded to NEW IDEA CONSTRUCTION COMPANY NIG LTD in the sum of N1,000,000,000.00 (one billion naira only) contract by the council.

According to a press release by Anambra Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, these approvals are subject to the terms and conditions of the contracts and adherence to the state’s procurement regulations.
