# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has described the forthcoming August 16th Anambra South Senatorial Bye-Election as consequential in lieu of the November gubernatorial election.

Soludo stated this when he led a campaign train in support of the APGA Candidate, Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu, to Umunze in Orumba South and Ufuma Orumba North.

The Governor has expressed strong backing for Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu, the APGA candidate in the upcoming Anambra South Bye-election scheduled for Saturday, August 16th. He stated that the party was well-positioned for victory and highlighted the importance of power rotation within the state.

 

# Indigenes of Enugu-Otu Aguleri in Anambra East LGA are counting their blessings following the construction of a new General Hospital in their community by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Reacting to the development at the hospital, the President General of Enugu-Otu Aguleri community, Mr. Joseph Odikpo, noted that they have been existing for years without assess to quality health care, adding that the hospital has saved them and other neighbouring communities like Eziagulu -Otu, Mkpunando and some communities in Anambra West that are close to them, the stress of going to urban areas to take care of their health.

On his part, a stakeholder in the community, Mr. Pius Machi, who applauded the move by Governor Soludo, recounted how they lost their children, pregnant women to the cold hands of death due to lack of access to health care, saying that now their people can easily walk to the hospital to treat malaria, typhoid and other ailments seamlessly.

# The Music Department of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, delivered a soulful and joyous performance that captivated the college community and invited guests.

The students’ exceptional instrumental skills and meticulous, powerful vocals shone during their performance examination and concert, leaving everyone mesmerized.

The performance examination, a key criterion for assessing students’ practical skills, evaluated their technical proficiency, musical interpretation, and stage presence. The Students performed chosen pieces, receiving feedback, grades, and motivation for improvement.

In his address, the Acting Head of the Music Department, Mr. Chukwuebuka Okolie, described the event as more than a concert: “It was a vibrant celebration of creative artistic expression and the unifying power of music.” He praised the students’ dedication and artistry, which reflected both individual talent and the collaborative spirit of the Music Department.

# Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command, attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu on Sunday, 10th August 2025, in a coordinated intelligence-led operation, arrested one Charles Chinonso, 32 years old.

The operatives arrested the suspected armed robber and member of a separatist group, and recovered a vehicle earlier reported stolen in Imo State.

According to Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the recovery took place at Umuazu Village, Nise, in Awka South Local Government Area.

The arrest followed a complaint by the victim, who reported that the vehicle was snatched at the World Bank Housing Area, Owerri West Local Government Area, Imo State. Acting on credible technological intelligence, Police operatives traced the vehicle to its location and effected the arrest.

# The Anambra State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, has described APGA as a political party rooted in the values, aspirations, and progress.

Chief Obi-Okoye noted that over the years, APGA-led administrations have prioritized good governance, infrastructural development, youth empowerment, and security, stating that the August 16 bye-election and the November 8 governorship election offer Ndi Anambra a critical opportunity to reaffirm their trust in a party that has delivered practical results and transformative leadership across the state.

The Chairman emphasized that under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, APGA has recorded unprecedented achievements in education, health care, road infrastructure, agriculture, technology, and grassroots empowerment. He maintained that voting APGA in the upcoming elections is a vote to sustain the progress and reforms already in motion, adding that It is a vote for continuity, stability, and the further deepening of developmental policies that have begun yielding tangible results.

# Ahead of the November 8 Anambra State Governorship Election, the Young Progressive Party, YPP, has demonstrated its grassroots-based support with a road show from Awka, the Anambra State capital, to Onitsha, the commercial nerve centre of the State.

The road show commenced from Awka and generated massive support from youths and transporters, including shuttle buses, keke, and okada riders along the way, numbering several hundreds.

Speaking during the road show, Sir Paul Chukwuma, a first-class graduate of philosophy and also in law, maintained that government is not rocket science.

Sir. Chukwuma, a respected business leader, also noted that the reception given by the people all along the way is a full testament that the people are willing to go with the YPP come November 8.

# The Anambra State House of Assembly by-election Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in the forthcoming August 16 Onitsha North one Constituency, Barr. Mimi Ifeoma Azikiwe continues to attract high-profile endorsements the latest being from the prestigious Agbalanze Society of Onitsha.

The endorsement held in Onitsha recently, members of the Agbalanze Society, one of the most respected and culturally significant associations in the ancient city, offered heartfelt blessings and prayers for Barr. Azikiwe.

Speaking during the event, leaders of the Agbalanze Society commended Barr. Azikiwe for her track record of service, her humility, and her unwavering commitment to the welfare of her people.

Barr. Azikiwe, in her response, thanked the Agbalanze Society for their show of trust and solidarity, describing it as both humbling and inspiring. She pledged to justify their confidence by pursuing legislation and constituency projects that will directly address the needs of Onitsha North I, while also preserving the cultural heritage of the area.

# Hon. Nnamso Nwafor Orizu, one of Late Senator Abbsianya Nwafor Orizu the former Senate President of the Nigerian Senate in the first republic has officially defected from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection took place during a landmark event held to welcome the APC Governorship candidate, Chief Nicolas Ukachukwu, and Hon. Azuka Okwuosa, the party’s candidate for the Anambra South Senatorial District bye-election scheduled for August 16, 2025.

Receiving Hon. Nwafor Orizu into the APC fold, the Anambra State Chairman of the party, Chief Basil Ejidike, described the former APGA stalwart as “a big fish in Anambra politics.” He asserted that the defection was a strong indication of the waning popularity of APGA in the state.

# Former Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige, has narrated how the late former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Audu Ogbe, saved Anambra State from descending into anarchy during his tenure as governor.

Ngige described the late Ogbe as a true democrat whose dogged defence of Nigeria’s democratic principles cost him his position as PDP National Chairman, a role he voluntarily resigned from.

In a tribute to his friend and political ally, Ngige recalled how Ogbe advised then President Olusegun Obasanjo against withdrawing his police security as a sitting governor, and how he insisted that the perpetrators of the mayhem in Anambra be brought to justice, a call which, he noted, was ignored by the President.
