# The Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA), Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi ‘The General’ has paid a visit to injured Mr. Kingsley Nwadike.

Nwadike who plays for Great Inland FC sustained a horrendous injury in form of a simple fracture while featuring for his team in the ongoing MANFES Anambra All Stars Match between Professionals FC of Awka versus Great Inland FC All Stars played at the Awka City Stadium on Sunday, 15th June, 2025 in the preliminary stages.

The FA Chairman who was accompanied by Prince Michael Mbaezue, Proprietor of Jimbaz FC, expressed shock about the development while pledging to support Mr. Nwadike towards ensuring he had a swift recovery in the aftermath of the surgical procedure.

The ANSFA Boss expressed hope of seeing Mr. Nwadike back on the pitch in no distant time judging by his confidence and positive spirit exhibited during his visit to comfort him.

# The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the upcoming Anambra gubernatorial election, Ozo Jeff Nweke, has warned the electorate against selling their votes

Speaking during a Thanksgiving service at Hear the Word of God Church International, Nkwelle, Awka, Nweke
emphasized that vote trading undermines democracy and hinders development.

Nweke decried the widespread practice of vote buying, describing it as the root cause of bad governance in Nigeria.

The governorship candidate stressed that any money spent by politicians to secure votes will inevitably be recovered at the expense of the public, warning that citizens who accept such inducements lose the moral right to hold leaders accountable.

# The Anambra State Police Command wishes to inform the public, especially the good people of Ideato LGA of Imo State of the safe custody of one Anayo Stephen aged 13 years, from Ubaha-Akparu Community.

The young boy was allegedly abducted in Imo State but was found at Ideani Junction in Anambra State.

According to the boy, on 9th August 2025, at about 3.00 p.m., while on his way to fetch grass for goats, four young men in a Hilux vehicle stopped him. They initially asked him for directions to a certain place in his area. However, unknown to him, they allegedly abducted him and took him to an undisclosed location.

The boy further stated that while his captors were asleep with him in the bush, he managed to escape. While walking away from the scene, he met the vigilante operatives at Ideani Junction and narrated his ordeal. The victim speaks both Igbo and English fluently.

Anambra Police Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga in a press release stated that the Command seeks the assistance of members of the media to share his picture for possible identification and to reunite him with his family.

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has officially launched the construction of St. Stephen’s Road by the Emmanuel Church Road junction.

This initiative marks a new chapter in his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the urban landscape of Onitsha, especially the internal roads in the city.

During the flag-off ceremony, Governor Soludo highlighted his administration’s ongoing efforts since he took office, which include extensive infrastructural developments in Okpoko, initiatives aimed at cleaning up the Ochanja area, numerous infrastructure projects in Onitsha.

The event took a turn as the Governor observed a moment of silence in memory of the late Justice Azuka, a respected lawmaker whose untimely death he described as a profound loss for the community and a challenge to the government’s security efforts.

Soludo assured the people that some of the suspects linked to the incident have already been apprehended, vowing to ensure accountability: “We will work tirelessly to restore our societal values and eliminate those who act with impunity,” he stated.

# The Anambra State Teqball Association has confirmed its participation in the upcoming Teqball World Qualifiers, scheduled to take place from September 10–13, 2025, in Aba, Abia State.

This decision was reached during the Association’s executive meeting held in Awka.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, signed by the Chairman, Chief Edwin Umeanozie and Media Officer, Mr. Cyril Nwoye, the body expressed appreciation to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for his commitment to sports development, as well as to the Chairman of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Chief Estate Onyedum, for his steadfast support towards the growth of Teqball in the state.

As part of preparations for the qualifiers, selection trials for the state contingent will begin on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Awka City Stadium, starting at 9:00 am.

# Ahead of the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League, Round 2 kick-off, scheduled to hold at Nnewi, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra State Chapter has been called upon to render its media support and a fruitful collaboration.

Media director, Anambra State Beach Soccer Association, Mr. Awam Okwudili Emmanuel in a press release, called on SWAN for maximum coverage during the tournament.

“We are thrilled to inform you that Nnewi, Anambra State, will host the second round of the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL), commencing on August 21st, 2025. As we prepare for this exciting event, we are reaching out to your esteemed association for media support”.

# The lawmaker representing Oyi Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Innocent Ojike has officially flag-off the perimeter fencing project at Owelle-Ukwu Primary School Ogbunike in oyi local government area, Anambra State, Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Sir. Ojike said the
perimeter fencing is a crucial initiative designed to enhance the security of the children, safeguard the school’s property, and create a safe learning environment for the pupils.

“With increasing concerns about safety in educational institutions, this project reflects our commitment to prioritizing the well-being of our future leaders. The project has a completion timeline of 30 working days and is valued at over 80 million naira”. Ojike stated.

# As Christian women begin this year’s annual August Meeting, Anambra Governor’s wife, Dr. (Mrs) Nonye Soludo has asked them to discuss fundamental issues affecting family and society.

The governor’s wife who stated this in statement she released in Awka, said that August Meetings should provide important platforms for women to point out peculiar problems that need urgent attention beginning from the ones happening around them.

According to Mrs. Soludo, it’s important to draw attention to rising moral deficits in child raising, depreciation of family values, drug abuse among school children, parental neglects and quest for illicit wealth among youths as key problems that August meetings can address.

She also stated that it was time for August Meetings to move away from what it used to be to take a deeper dive into promoting communal and religious peace, tolerance, and solving critical issues.

# Nnamdi Azikiwe University’s Prof. Ngozi Egbuna International Centre for Regional Integration & Trade Research is set to host a significant international conference and MSMEs trade exhibition.

The event, themed “30 Years of Nigeria in WTO: Opportunities, Challenges and Prospects,” will take place on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the ASUU Secretariat Auditorium.

The conference comes at a crucial time, as Nigeria marks three decades of membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The event aims to discuss the country’s experiences, challenges, and future prospects within the global trade organization.
