IGP Egbetokun Inaugurates Panel to Review Police Officers Welfare Conditions

Inspector-General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun has inaugurated a high-level committee to review and harmonise the Nigeria Police Service Scheme and Conditions of Service.

The inauguration took place on Tuesday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The committee, chaired by Assistant Inspector-General Nemi Iwo, has two weeks to align the scheme with national public service rules and the Police Act, gather stakeholder input, and submit an updated draft.

Its members include senior officers from various specialisations and a representative of the Police Service Commission.

Egbetokun said the reform would modernise the Nigeria Police Force’s administrative framework, improve officers’ welfare, and strengthen capacity to tackle modern security challenges.

He added that the initiative complements other welfare programmes for serving and retired officers, including better living conditions and enhanced retirement benefits.
