To Mimiy Ifeoma Azikiwe: Take Pride In This First Step

Dear Hon,
Congratulations to you on your landslide victory in the Onitsha North Constituency 1 bye-election. First attempt, first victory!
Of all the bye-elections in the Southeast, your election, despite being a State House of Assembly bye-election, was the most talked about and high-stake interest election. You won a statement election. Flaunt your beauty. Take pride in it. Flash those gapped teeth and soak yourself in the euphoria of this moment.
I informed the family of Justice Onyedika, one of the unjustly imprisoned Nigerians you released pro bono from Onitsha prison, that you won the election; tears of joy couldn’t let them shout. I believe you know that many of us are relieved. The prayers of all the people whose lives you saved and those you helped reached the ears of God.
I want you to understand that despite everything that went on during the primary and campaign, your character and personality won you this election.
Your character, empathy, kindness, compassion, and what you do for humanity attracted the support that won you this election.
This victory wouldn’t be possible if God wasn’t on your side, and all the glory goes to Him. He alone strengthened your supporters, and He alone designed your love for humanity.
Now, I write this letter to refresh your mind and bring to you a tiding. You went through a lot in this election, but your evergreen love shone brightest. I consider this victory a blessing to Onitsha North Constituency 1 and humanity.
I love the campaign you executed; it was founded on love and respect. When evil reared its ugly head, you stood unwavering, a beacon of love, radiating kindness to those who sought to dim your light. This is a testament to love’s supreme power.
The rest of the candidates and their supporters desperately engaged in character assassination and a campaign of calumny, but you held your head high, firmly held onto your principles, and won the election.
My support for you wasn’t based on your personality or political affiliation. On different platforms where I held debates, I made it clear that I have never seen a philanthropist-cum-politician with your kind of heart. I also said you are not a politician but a woman on a political-humanitarian mission.
I am sure you wouldn’t contest unless it’s to uplift Nigerians (your people) and expand on your work for the people.
Hon. I believe you agree with me that the Anambra State House of Assembly is not the mission. The mission is to reach places from where everybody in Anambra State can experience your compassion and the taste of your beautiful soul.
While serving Onitsha North Constituency 1, let it be a springboard for the greater mission. Let it showcase and improve the already outstanding personal scorecard. Let it be a ticket for the next stage of this upward-trajectory political career.
I am convinced that in you, Ndigbo has a rare gem. You are a blessing to your people and to humanity. I can beat my chest and say, another rare gem is here with us. This greatness is not because of your affiliations or affiliates, but because your heart and soul can’t stand the sufferings of the people; there is a future of greatness.
The House of Assembly is a starting point; please, don’t rest on your laurels. Humanity needs you in bigger offices where your love and kindness can reach all.
