Bisi Akande Describes Late President Buhari as “Angel in Human Flesh”

Chief Bisi Akande, pioneer national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Osun State, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, calling him “an angel in human flesh.”

Akande led a delegation of political associates to Buhari’s family residence in Kaduna to deliver condolences. He praised the former president as a patriotic leader whose impact would endure beyond his lifetime.

Recalling their final encounter in Daura, Akande said Buhari appeared robust, healthy, and strong—without warning signs of imminent death. “We had a nice time together,” Akande said, adding that he only learned of Buhari’s passing while abroad. “Very painful, very, very painful.”

Upon his return, Akande said it was his solemn duty to visit the family, offer comfort, and pray with them. His delegation included notable figures such as Senator Abu Ibrahim, former Sports Minister Sunday Dare, APC stalwart Mahmud Abdullahi, Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment Silas Agara, and Arewa Think Tank convener Mohammed Alhaji Yakubu.

Responding to the condolence visit, Buhari’s eldest son, Yusuf, thanked Akande and the team for their support. He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for ensuring his father received a dignified burial and acknowledged the outpouring of national sympathy. Yusuf emphasized that the family remains committed to upholding the values of integrity, discipline, and service that Buhari embodied.
