UNIZIK Security Removes Students for Violating Signing-Off Ban

Security operatives at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) have removed three final-year students from campus for participating in the banned “signing off” ceremonies that typically occur after examinations.
The arrests followed the university’s indefinite ban on such gatherings, which was issued due to increasing incidents of violence, disorder, and the presence of unauthorized individuals on campus. The Registrar, Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke, emphasized that the disruptions compromise the safety and academic environment of the institution.
Violators of the policy are subject to strict disciplinary action, including possible expulsion—while outsiders involved in such activities may face arrest for breach of peace.
Videos circulating online show security personnel escorting two female students and one male student off the premises after being spotted participating in a signing-off event.
