# The Anambra State Police Command operatives attached to the Isiowulu Police Division, working with local vigilante operatives, arrested a notorious vehicle theft suspect, Chidi Nwoye, aged 24 years, who was operating a tricycle and recovered some stolen vehicles and other exhibits.

The Items recovered include: One Hyundai Tucson vehicle with registration number PH 725 AAA (without ignition key), One tricycle with registration number NSH 051 UD (without ignition key), Eight assorted GSM phones, One black face-cap bearing “AVG Special Force”.

“One battle axe, One driver’s license belonging to Ikechukwu (surname withheld), Two bunches of keys, four master keys, two ATM cards, one PVC, one vehicle tracking device, one sensor, one USB drive, one ear pod, a damaged fuse, vehicle booklet, beads, improvised wires, an ignition device for tricycle, and one brown sling bag containing personal effects including a pair of red canvas shoes and money and an iPhone watch.

“The suspect was intercepted along Minaj Road, Obosi, while operating a stolen tricycle. Upon interrogation, he confessed to using master keys to steal vehicles and tricycles from their parked positions.

“Meanwhile, the Operatives have extended investigations to the suspect’s den for possible recovery of additional stolen exhibits.

# The second round of the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) came to an end at the Moonshine Arena, Nnewi High School, Anambra State, with thrilling contests underlining the quality and competitiveness of this season’s campaign.

Former champions Kada Beach Soccer Club reaffirmed their title credentials with a ruthless 7-1 demolition of Jigawa Golden Star BSC.

The Kaduna-based side, who remain unbeaten this season, dominated from start to finish, spearheaded by the brilliance of Dozie Frank. The forward, who was later named Man of the Match, netted four goals in a stellar display that left fans in awe.

Supporting strikes from James Mamman, Victor Tale, and Ebuka James completed the emphatic victory and stretched Kada’s winning run to seven games.

The result keeps Kada firmly at the top of the standings and sets them apart as the most consistent side of the campaign so far.

# The Women Wing of Adazi-Nnukwu Town Development Union, has held its biennial convention, discussing societal issues centered on women and families.

The convention aimed at working toward changing the narrative on issues that concern women and family negatively,
held at Adazi-Nnukwu Civic Centre had the union members from different branches.

Speaking on the objectives of the event, Dr. Mishael Onugbolu explained that the convention, among other things, offers a platform for women to discuss issues around them, families and to reach out to the vulnerable ones among them.

In a lecture on “Causes of divorce and consequences”, Barrister Chizoba Nnagbo reiterated that marriage is a covenant instituted by God; which demands commitment, understanding and responsibility.

In another lecture on sickle cell disease, Mrs. Aisha Edward-Maduagwu, who called for the implementation of sickle cell law in Anambra, advised intending couples to do genotype test in a government hospital before marriage, and urged parents to caution their children against immorality.

In their remarks, Lady Ifeoma Abasili, Mrs. Amaka Obianowo and Mrs. Vivian Nwailo said the convention has equipped them with requisite knowledge on how to better manage their families.

# The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has invited customers in Anambra to a 3-Day Customer Complaints Resolution Meeting.

The Group Head, Corporate Communications of EEDC, Emeka Ezeh who disclosed this on Monday said the company will continue to prioritise the right and satisfaction in its operations.

Ezeh said the Complaints Resolution Meeting will hold between September 4th to 6th from 10:am and 4:pm at Hilton Leisure Resorts and Hotels Limited off Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Awka.

He said customers in Anambra under Abagana, Awka, Ekwulobia, Nnewi, Obosi, Ogbaru, Ogidi, and Onitsha districts should endeavour to attend.

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has praised the positive contributions of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members across Anambra communities, describing them as a vital part of the State’s development efforts.

The welfare and security of Corps members topped discussions during the visit led by Anambra State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua.

Governor Soludo while speaking during a courtesy visit by the corps members at the Government House, Awka, recently shared personal memories from his own service year in Oyo State between 1984 and 1985, noting how the scheme exposed him to new cultures and traditions.

“The NYSC helped me conquer culture shock. It was in Ife that I first tasted amala, ewedu, and Ikokore. Those experiences shaped my outlook in many ways.”

Soludo assured that his administration would continue to work closely with NYSC to ensure the welfare, security, and productivity of Corps members in Anambra.

The Coordinator Mrs Pauline Ojisua, while presenting key operational needs of the scheme in the State, called for government intervention in critical areas to improve the living and working conditions of Corps members.

# The defending champions of Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL), Kebbi Fishers BSC, has maintained its dominance of the game in the ongoing 2025 second round at Nnewi, Anambra state.

The team had won its two games played so far, including against the hosts, Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors in the league opener with 6–5 on penalties victory in a tightly contested game which ended 4-4 draw at regulation time.

Ibom BSC which started in a fine thrilling on matchday one with 3–0 victory over Nmanko Patigi BSC also fell to the superior power of the defending Champions 5-1 in the second game played at Nnewi High School on Friday.

Kebbi Fishers along other five teams will emerge at the end of the second round on Saturday for the supper league finals scheduled for Akwa-Ibom state in December this year.

# The 2025, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Press Week novelty match officially kicked off in grand style with a highly anticipated novelty football match.

The game between NUJ and the Anambra Patriots for Soludo was played on Monday August 25th 2025 at the St. Patrick’s Cathedral Field, Awka.

The Member representing Njikoka two Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Jude Akpua while speaking before the kickoff, praised the initiative as a unifying event that blends civic engagement, physical fitness, and journalism in service of democracy and good governance.

Hon. Akpua who is the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, commended NUJ for promoting community development through sports while reaffirming his commitment to youth empowerment and media collaboration.

# The second round of the 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) concludes with hosts Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors rose to the occasion in front of their fans, sealing a spirited 4-2 victory over Ibom BSC.

The Warriors produced a balanced attacking performance with goals from Chinedu Ichoku, Peter Prosper, Austine Eze, and Momo Miracle, who also walked away with the Man of the Match award for his tireless display.

Despite late efforts from Uwana Aniete and Effiong Eyo for Ibom, the home side’s defensive resilience and attacking efficiency proved decisive. The win was particularly significant for the Warriors, who had earlier suffered heartbreak against Kebbi Fishers in Nnewi, and will now carry renewed confidence into the next round.

Defending champions Kebbi Beach Soccer Club also maintained their grip on the title race with a composed 3-0 victory over Nmanko Patigi BSC.

The experienced side displayed discipline, tactical maturity, and clinical finishing, underlining why they remain one of the most respected clubs in the NBSL. The clean sheet win also highlights their defensive strength, which has been a cornerstone of their success over the past two seasons.

# The Anambra State Police Operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad Akwuzu, while on night patrol along the Agu Awka/Ifite Awka axis, intercepted a tricycle and arrested a four-man criminal syndicate specialising in robbing unsuspecting residents, particularly students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, of their phones and other valuables.

The suspects include: Nnaji Chidera, 19 years, Chijioke Mmaduabuchi 21 years, Wisdom Ogbonna 19 years and Afamefuna Egbe 20 years.

Exhibits recovered are, 9 brands of phones including the victim’s iPhone, one laptop, two tricycles with registration numbers LSD 464 QP and BLF 552 VH, four different tricycle plate numbers and a substance suspected to be a hard drug.

Anambra Police Spokesperson, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga in a press conference stated that the Operatives upon interrogation of the suspects confessed to being part of a criminal syndicate that specialises in robbing students within the Awka axis.

They further revealed that the multiple tricycle plate numbers found with them were usually used to disguise their operational vehicles whenever they embarked on armed robbery.
