Manchester United have officially touched base with Bayern Munich in the hope of hashing out a deal for Mathys Tel.
That’s according to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, who claims the Red Devils are hoping to sign the 19-year-old on loan for the remainder of the term. He adds that they ‘have contacted’ Bayern and ‘hope to buy some time regarding Tel since departures are needed’ – ie. Alejandro Garnacho or Marcus Rashford.
The update comes just a day after a ‘verbal agreement’ was reached between Tel, Bayern and Tottenham Hotspur, with the North London outfit willing to pay £50.1 million to acquire his signature amidst stern competition from Premier League clubs.
It’s previously been suggested that the U21 French international favours a move to Old Trafford – hence waiting to see if the Reds would make their approach before Friday’s deadline. Ultimately, though, it depends on whether Bayern prefer a permanent deal – therefore recuperating upfront cash.
