# Governor Chukwuma Soludo  joined the Umueri community in Anambra East LGA to celebrate their New Yam Festival, a cultural event that projects  the people’s rich agricultural heritage and heralds the yam harvest season.

During the celebration, Governor Soludo felicitated with the Traditional Ruler of Umueri, Igwe Ben Emeka, applauding his leadership and commitment to fostering unity and development in the community, and expressed optimism that together, the people would continue to uphold their traditions while embracing modern advancements for sustainable growth.

The Governor emphasized the importance of agriculture to the economic development of Anambra State and encouraged community members to adopt innovative farming techniques to enhance productivity

# Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA), Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi has charged the Super Eagles to go all out for the win against South Africa on Tuesday when both sides clash in the match day eight fixture of the ongoing 2026 World Cup Qualification.

Chief Iloenyosi fondly known as the ‘D General’ stated that the current crop of players under the watchful eyes of Coach Eric Chelle have what it takes to beat South Africa at their backyard despite being on top of the Group with three matches left in the qualifiers where the winner of the group qualifies automatically for the biggest football mundial with the runners up eligible for the playoffs spot.

The Anambra FA Boss noted that the win against Rwanda was a big morale booster for the lads going into Tuesday’s crucial contest. The top football administrator expressed hope that the Super Eagles can still top the group with a win against South Africa and in the remaining matches of the contest while saying that Nigeria cannot afford to miss the World Cup on two consecutive occasions having missed out the 2022 World Cup hosted by Qatar.

Chukwuma, who wondered what Soludo has been doing in over three years to address the electricity need of Anambra, assured that he had understudied stable power supply in Aba, and China. Therefore, that within 6 months of his government, he would ensure a stable power supply across Anambra State.

# Anambra Police – led Joint Security Force, Aguata, comprising troops from the 302 Artillery Regiment (GS), 14 Field Engineer Regiment, Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and Anambra State Vigilante (Agunechemba) carried out a coordinated joint operation at an ESN/IPOB militia camp located in Aguluezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area.

During the operation, which lasted over five hours, the militia members were successfully dislodged, their camp destroyed, while several of them escaped with varying degrees of gunshot wounds. A white Lexus 470 SUV and several Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were also recovered from the scene.

The area has since been stabilized and remains calm as monitoring continues to ensure the safety and security of residents, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.

Anyamelum constituency, Chief John Okigbo, Chief Jude Osude, Chief Ralph Okeke, Mrs. Ifeoma Onwudiwe, and other members of Sir Paul Chukwuma Campaign Team.

In his remarks, Sir Paul Chukwuma,
reaffirmed his absolute commitment to restore confidence and give Anambra back to Ndi Anambra through his key focus on human capital, infrastructure development, and security, otherwise called the HIS Agenda.

Address the crowd, Hon. Bernard Udemezue assured of his total commitment to ensure that Sir Paul emerges victorious at the polls in November.

On his part, Hon. Mbachu said that Sir Paul Chukwuma will deliver, given his excellent academic credentials, fortified by his good character demonstrated over the years.

# Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Film Studies at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), who assaulted few months ago by a female student, has been selected for the prestigious Atlantic Fellowship for Equity in Brain Health.

The fellowship, hosted simultaneously at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and the University of California, USA, brings together distinguished researchers from around the world to promote multidisciplinary engagements in brain health, particularly in the treatment of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Dr. Okoye, who also serves as the Faculty Career Officer for the Faculty of Arts, was selected through a highly competitive process. His research interests align with the fellowship’s goals, building on his PhD dissertation, which proposed the concept of “RehabDramatics.” This concept explores the use of performing arts to stimulate and foster healthier psychosocial activities in specific situations.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, has congratulated Dr. Chukwudi Okoye on this achievement and his residency at the Global Brain Health Institute, Trinity College, Dublin, as a Resident Fellow.

# A veteran human right activist, Mr Bonaventure Ezekwenna has urged governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to urgently investigate an alleged gross corruption currently ravaging the Anambra State Ministry of Justice.

Ezekwenna made the call while briefing Journalists in Awka to sake justice over alleged harassment, intimidation, forcefully taking of his landed property and deadly threat to his life by a suspected land-grabber at Nnobi community in Idemili South Local Government Area of the State.

The activist alleged that the suspect and other gangsters threatening his life and terrorizing the State at large are been aided and abetted by Persecutors at the State Ministry of Justice.

He also alleged that the persecutors at the ministry demanded huge sum of money from him, ranging from N150,000 to N1million to diligently prosecute the case.

# As part of activities lined up to mark the 20th anniversary of the Anglican Diocese of Aguata , 15 priests have been collated as statutory canons of the Cathedral.

Performing the function at St John the Divine Church, Oko in Orumba North LGA, the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, urged the beneficiaries not to see their elevation as a title, but a call for more service to God and humanity, warning them against flamboyant lifestyle.

Earlier in a sermon, the Archdeacon of Oko Archdeaconry, Venerable Izunna Moneke, who spoke on the peculiarity of God’s calling, maintained that God’s calling always come with specifications, and cautioned the people against discarding God’s intention for their journey.
