Labour Party Tells Obi: No Ticket for 2027, Blames #EndSARS Momentum for 2023 Victory

The Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, has declared that Peter Obi will not secure the party’s ticket for the 2027 presidential election, attributing the party’s success in 2023 to the #EndSARS movement rather than Obi’s personal appeal.

In an interview on Channels Television’s Lunchtime Politics, Arabambi asserted that the party “could survive and thrive without Peter Obi,” characterizing his influence in the previous election as circumstantial rather than foundational.

Arabambi also accused the party’s Acting National Chairperson, Nenadi Usman, and activist Aisha Yesufu of aligning with Obi to the detriment of party cohesion. He warned of disciplinary actions against what he referred to as “elements of political extremism,” adding: “Now that they said they are going to ADC, we wish them well.”

He challenged Obi to formally announce his departure from the Labour Party if he genuinely believes he can replicate his 2023 support (over seven million votes) without the party.
