Gunmen kidnap Lieutenant Colonel in Delta

Gunmen abducted Lieutenant Colonel Josiah, a senior army officer, from his lodge in Bomadi, Delta State, in the wee hours of Sunday, September 8, 2025.

The kidnappers, who were armed, stormed the lodge between 2am and 2:30am, ransacked several rooms, seized phones from lodgers, and whisked the officer away in a waiting vehicle.

A witness described the ordeal, saying: “The kidnappers came to the hotel about 2 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. They searched every room, took the phones of lodgers, and forced the military officer outside.

“They even fired shots before zooming out of the hotel premises with the military officer in their vehicle. There was also blood on the ground after they had left the premises”.

Bomadi is the headquarters of Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State.

The officer had attended a wedding ceremony in Kpakiama community before returning to his lodge in Bomadi.

The vehicle used by the kidnappers was later found abandoned in Tuomo community along the Tuomo-Ogbobagbene-Tamigbe-Torugbene road and has been recovered by the Joint Task Force (JTF).

The JTF has intensified patrols in Bomadi and nearby communities to ensure security and potentially track down the kidnappers.
