Anambra: Police Decorates 89 Inspectors, Inducts Them Into Officers Mess

Anambra State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu on Wednesday, 10th September, 2025 decorated 89 (Eighty-Nine) newly promoted Inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in a colourful ceremony held at the Command Headquarters, Awka.

The event, which was attended by senior officers of the Command, family members, and well-wishers, marked a significant milestone in the careers of the officers.

In addition to their decoration, the officers were officially inducted into the Police Officers’ Mess, symbolizing their transition into the Officer Cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.

The CP represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department Awka, DCP. Mantu Chong congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to see their elevation as both a reward for hard work and a call to greater responsibility.

The Police boss reminded them that leadership in the Nigeria Police Force requires professionalism, discipline, and commitment to the protection of lives and property.

Orutugu further noted that Promotion comes with higher expectations. In his words:

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, approved these promotions in recognition of your dedication and sacrifices.

“You must now justify the confidence reposed in you by ensuring effective service delivery and upholding the values of honesty, fairness, and accountability.”

He also urged them to remain role models to their subordinates and to deepen their collaboration with communities in tackling crime and sustaining peace in Anambra State.

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ASP Oliji Alfred expressed profound gratitude to the Police Service Commission and the Force Headquarters for finding them worthy of the elevation. He pledged that the officers would redouble their commitment to duty and ensure that they live up to the expectations of their new ranks.
