# Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Education has visited the State Ministry of Education to evaluate its performance, ensure accountability in the use of funds, and identify areas where the legislature can provide necessary support.

During the visit, the Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Anayo Okpalaeke, said that the oversight function was part of the Assembly’s constitutional mandate to guarantee that policies and resources are effectively utilized for the growth of the education sector.

He emphasized that education remains a major pillar for human capital development and that the Assembly is determined to work with the executive to strengthen the system.

In her response, the Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, commended the Assembly for its consistent interest in the education sector and noted that Anambra has become a true citadel of learning, following Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s free education policy, which has made education accessible to children from all backgrounds.

# Anambra Commissioner for Works, Hon. Ifeanyi Okoma, the Convener of the SGG, hosted the Solution for Good Governance (SGG) in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, where a massive gathering of ward coordinators and supporters mapped out strategies ahead of the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025 — just 56 days away.

The strategic meeting drew in all 14 ward coordinators under SGG, each accompanied by over 2,000 loyal supporters, reaffirming their commitment to delivering sweeping victory for the incumbent governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Okoma expressed confidence in mobilizing not only his ward but the entire 130 wards in Obosi, describing the coming election as a “4 + 4 equals 8 goal,” stressing that the South must be allowed to complete its rightful tenure.

# Former senator, Shehu Sani, has waded into the ongoing clash between Senator Uche Ekwunife and the Anambra First Lady, Dr. Nonye Soludo.

In a post on his X handle, Sani reminded Nigerians of the past drama between Anambra’s former First Lady and Hon. Bianca Ojukwu, which ended with a slap.

To avoid another round of public embarrassment, he advised that Senator Ekwunife should be kept at a safe distance from the current First Lady during public functions.

According to him, leaders must exercise restraint, as frequent quarrels between high-profile figures not only affect their image but also weaken public trust.

Quoting his words, Sani said: “The last two fightings between the Anambra First Lady and my sister and friend, Hon. Bianca, ended with a slap. I suggest that in any public event, Distinguished Senator Ekwunife should not be allowed to come close to Her Excellency, the Anambra First Lady. Let there be peace.”

# Sir Paul Chukwuma, YPP Candidate in the November 8, Anambra State Governorship Election, assures that under his watch, Anambra must be liberated.

Sir Paul Chukwuma speaks on insecurity, describing it as the most pressing challenge confronting Anambra state today.

According to Chukwuma, his commitment is to ensure that every Naira allocated for the security of Ndi Anambra is applied transparently and effectively to protect our people.

He maintained that his government will entrench genuine local government autonomy, empowering communities to take charge of their own governance and wellbeing in a manner that is both accountable and people-centered.

# A viral video has surfaced showing Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu, popularly known as Ikukuoma, the APC gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming Anambra gubernatorial election, being confronted by a group of men over an alleged one billion naira debt.

In the video, Chief Ukachukwu was leaving a hotel in Abuja with his wife and young son when the men appeared and began demanding the alleged debt.

In response to the incident, the Nicholas Ukachukwu and Senator Uche Ekwunife Campaign Organization issued a statement asserting that the confrontation was a poorly executed political stunt.

# The Anambra State Police Command has intensified its campaign against cultism, drug abuse and other rising social vices with the arrest of 54 suspects and the recovery of a large quantity of hard drugs during separate operations across the state.

The arrests, which comprised 39 males and 15 females, followed coordinated raids by operatives in Ogidi, Idemili North LGA, and Ifitedunu, in Dunukofia LGA.

The ASWAMA boss describes the effort as part of a broader plan to position Anambra as a model for a circular economy in Nigeria.
