2027: Tinubu’s govt not ready for free, fair elections — Galadima

Veteran politician and NNPP chieftain, Buba Galadima, has expressed concerns over what he perceives as the federal government’s reluctance to ensure credible elections in 2027.

During an interview on Arise Television’s, Prime Time, Galadima accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of employing tactics aimed at destabilizing opposition parties, suggesting a deliberate strategy to weaken competition ahead of the polls.

Despite this, he assured Nigerians that the ruling party would face strong opposition and warned that continued governance in the same style could erode public confidence and lead to electoral defeat.

“This government is not ready to organize a free and fair election,” Galadima stated. “From their antics and how they are destabilizing parties, it’s clear they don’t want an opposition for the election. But I assure them there will be opposition, and if they don’t change their governance approach, they will lose.”

Galadima praised Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former Kano governor, as the “generalissimo” of Nigerian politics, asserting that Kwankwaso would consistently deliver Kano in a free and fair election due to his political influence in the populous state.

He also expressed disappointment over the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as a fragmented group of politicians whose selfish interests have hindered the formation of a united front capable of challenging the current government.

“All of them know the combinations that could win the election, but are we ready to do it?” he lamented.

Commenting on the reported meeting between former President Goodluck Jonathan and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, Galadima highlighted the need for collaboration, urging them to unite and present a single candidate to challenge Tinubu’s administration.

“If Jonathan and Obi come together and bring one candidate, the entire country will align because it’s a political strategy to get us out of this hardship,” he said.
