Tinubu’s Son Eligible to Contest Lagos Governorship — Bwala

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Tinubu, says Seyi Tinubu is qualified to contest any political office in Nigeria.
Bwala made the statement during an interview on The Clarity Zone podcast, shared on YouTube on Wednesday.
He dismissed claims that Seyi’s political involvement depends solely on his father’s influence.
According to him, Seyi Tinubu has earned his place as a bridge-builder among Nigerian youth.
Bwala defends Seyi’s political future
“If Seyi Tinubu’s father is the president, what stops him from running for Lagos governor? Seyi Tinubu can even challenge his father in the next election,” Bwala declared.
He described Seyi as humble and unassuming, despite his privileged background.
The presidential aide added that Seyi has helped young people secure government opportunities, even across party lines.
“At a point, he was criticised for bringing in people who were mostly Obidients. That shows he has no bias,” Bwala explained.
Bwala contrasted Seyi with children of past Nigerian leaders, stressing that he has avoided scandals and controversies.
“You will never see him attacking people on social media.
His father is one of the most criticised in recent history, yet Seyi builds relationships even with government critics,” he said.
The presidential aide also shared that he once openly criticised the Tinubu administration, but his relationship with Seyi remained unaffected.
To him, this proves Seyi separates politics from personal ties.
‘Judge him by personal experience’
Bwala urged Nigerians to form opinions about Seyi based on direct interaction, not inherited perceptions.
“Until you experience somebody, don’t judge them. Too many people inherit other people’s problems without personal encounter,” he added.
For Bwala, Seyi Tinubu’s track record among youth and his clean reputation show that he could seek political office, regardless of his father’s position.
