Peter Obi Set to Declare 2027 Presidential Platform in November — Ally

The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has begun intensive consultations ahead of the 2027 general election.
Sources close to him confirmed that the former Anambra State governor will unveil his chosen political platform in November.
Obi’s recent private meetings with influential leaders are fueling speculation about his next move.
On September 12, he met former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.
According to insiders, the talks centered on discouraging Jonathan from contesting in 2027 while seeking his endorsement.
“Obi believes Jonathan’s backing would significantly strengthen his chances,” a close ally disclosed.
Shortly after, Obi met former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta to brief him on the outcome and deepen consultations.
The meetings are part of a wider outreach strategy.
Sources revealed that Obi is also planning engagements with General Ibrahim Babangida, General T.Y. Danjuma, General Yakubu Gowon, and General Abdulsalami Abubakar before his November declaration.
Traditional rulers across the country are also expected to be consulted.
For now, Obi remains in the Labour Party, but discussions around the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition have stirred debate.
Some of his supporters see the ADC as a stronger platform for building a broader opposition force ahead of 2027.
Speaking on the issue, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, described the meetings as “friendly consultations.”
He emphasized that Obi is still a Labour Party member but confirmed that clarity on the ADC option would come in November.
“These are regular engagements between old friends and respected leaders,” Tanko said. “The final decision on the political platform will be announced after full consultations.”
He also urged members of the Obidient Movement to stay active, mobilize support, and continue spreading Obi’s vision.
“Everyone should keep promoting Obi’s agenda for lifting Nigerians out of poverty, improving security, and fixing the economy,” he added.
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) dismissed Obi’s consultations as irrelevant.
The party’s Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, said Nigerians are satisfied with President Bola Tinubu’s performance and predicted another defeat for Obi.
“There is nothing new Obi is doing.
He met these same leaders before the 2023 elections and still lost,” Ibrahim stated.
“Nigerians have confidence in our party’s performance, and we will continue to deliver on our promises.”
With November drawing near, attention is now focused on whether Obi will stick with the Labour Party or move to the ADC coalition.
Either choice is expected to shape the direction of Nigeria’s opposition politics ahead of 2027.
