# It was a milestone in the history of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) as the multimillion naira building complex comprising of Classroom Blocks and PFN Unity Chapel built by PFN Anambra State Chapter at the Medium Security Custodial Center Onitsha was commissioned and handed over formally to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) amidst jubilations.
The Classroom blocks/PFN Unity Chapel was Commissioned/Dedicated by the PFN National President, His Eminence Bishop Francis Wale Oke who was ably represented by PFN National Deputy President, Rev. Dr. Cosmas Ilechukwu before it was Handed over formerly to Controller General NCS, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche who was represented by Assistant Controller General of Corrections, Zonal Coordinator Zone M, Enugu, Prisca C. Oku.
According to PFN Chairman Anambra State, Bishop Moses Ezedebego, this Landmark project which took about one year and seven months to accomplish was born during our visits to the Onitsha Correctional Center (OCC) when we saw the passion of these inmates to continue their education against all odds.
# An Industrialist Dr Godwin Okafor has called for the establishment of Industrial Park in the six geopolitical zone of the country to grow the economy in addition to fastracking the Industrial development of the Nigerian Nation.
Dr. Okafor who blamed the problem of the country on bad leadership and lack of genuine democratic governance, regretted that Nigeria after sixty-five years of nationhood has continued to experience daunting challenges including epileptic power supply which has resulted to the closure of many industries in Nigeria, and called on the federal government to create more conducive environment for the growth of indigenous firms to encourage production of goods for export to earn foreign exchange.
Dr. Okafor who is a community leader in Isuofia Aguata Local Government Area while paying glowing tribute to all the Nationalists who worked for the independence of the country in 1960, urged Nigerians to always engage in those programmes that will continue to unite and uplift the Nation, reminding the citizenry of the need to always patronize made in Nigeria product to strengthen local industries and the economy of the nation.
# Members of the Anambra State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, have staged a peaceful protest against a parallel executive allegedly floated by five expelled members of the union, which they said is creating problems for the duly elected leadership.
The peaceful protest took off from NULGE Secretariat in Awka, and terminated at the Light House where the union members were received by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Administration, Mrs Joy Soba.
Briefing the government on the matter, the National Trustee of NULGE, Comrade Victor Mmuo, said the issue has already attracted the attention of the union’s national body, which has written to the Anambra State Government and relevant agencies to affirm that the Eucharia Uyawune-led executive remains the authentic leadership of the union in Anambra, duly recognized by the national body.
Speaking earlier, the state Acting President of the union, Comrade Eucharia Uyawune and Ike Abugu said that they were surprised that check-off dues of workers were paid into a private account, while staff working under them have not been paid for five months, being the period the check off dues were diverted, appealing to the Governor to come to their aid and solve the issue once and for all.
# Anambra State emerged tops at the just-concluded Strategic Retreat of the Joint Tax Board (JTB), held at the serene Warm Springs Resort in Ikogosi, Ekiti State.
Declaring the retreat open, the Governor of Ekiti State expressed delight in hosting the event and highlighted his administration’s tax reforms, which have significantly boosted revenues in Ekiti.
He pledged his full support throughout the retreat, urging participants to embrace peer-to-peer learning.
The Executive Chairman of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AiRS), Dr. Greg Ezeilo, in his presentation titled “Revenue Assurance in the Informal Sector.” underscored what he described as the ground norms for effective revenue assurance in Nigeria’s informal sector. These principles include: No Data, No Tax, No Revenue.
Dr. Ezeilo maintained that the role of middlemen must be eliminated for effective tax administration.
# Former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has commended Evangelist Ebuka Obi for the commissioning of the Seraphic Psychiatric and Elderly Home in Aguleri, Anambra State.
Obi described the project as a noble initiative that demonstrates compassion and a commitment to serving humanity.
Highlighting the significance of the facility, after meeting Evangelist Obi at Lagos Airport and later visiting the facility, the former governor referenced a recent World Health Organisation (WHO) report indicating that over 20 million Nigerians currently live with mental health challenges arising from economic hardship and stress.
Obi stressed that mental health should be taken seriously, noting his administration’s investment in the Nawfia Psychiatric Hospital through the provision of modern buildings and equipment.
He dismissed misconceptions that psychiatric facilities portray a community negatively, explaining that such investments are vital in societies that genuinely care for their people. Obi further expressed concern about the growing menace of drug abuse among youths, recommending that secondary school students undertake excursions to psychiatric facilities to better understand the dangers of substance abuse.
# Leaders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN in Anambra State have rejected a proposed Tenure Elongation Congress slated to hold in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State later this month.
The congress, scheduled to hold on Sunday, 20th September, 2025, seeks to extend the official age bracket of youths within the NYCN to 40 years, from the subsisting legislation which puts at 18 to 35 years.
The tenure elongation attempts have been greeted by criticisms from vary quarters, describing it as desperate attempts by forces within the Council’s hierarchy to remain in the saddle of affairs.
In a statement signed on Friday by some past Anambra State Chairmen of the NYCN, the youths reaffirmed their endorsement that the official age bracket of youths within the Council remains 18 to 35 years.
They rejected any form of tenure elongation or amendment seeking to extend the age limit to 40 years.
# The Labour Party campaign in Anambra received a powerful boost as Hon. George Ozodinobi, Member representing Anaocha, Dunukofia, and Njikoka Federal Constituency, hosted the party’s Governorship Candidate, Dr. George Moghalu, and former Governor Peter Obi at a mini rally in Nimo.
From Oye Nimo to Egwegwe Square, the campaign drew jubilant crowds who cheered the Labour Party train, reinforcing the Recovery Agenda message across Anambra Central.
Dr. Moghalu, addressing the charged audience, declared that he was not afraid of the coming election, insisting that victory is assured by the Grace of God.
He accused the current administration of hoarding public funds only to bring them out for vote buying, while workers are denied the correct minimum wage and some teachers earn as little as ₦30,000 monthly. He lamented that Anambra has become a constant feature in the news for negative reasons—ranging from cult killings to kidnappings, and even killings linked to government-backed security operatives.
# The Mayor of Anaocha LGA, Hon. Rome Ibekwe, has commissioned a solar-powered borehole at Nri, a historical and archaeological town of Igbo Cosmogony, domiciled in Anaocha LGA.
During the event, Ibekwe directed the site engineer to ensure that the taps are accessible to the broader community.
While celebrating the commissioning, Pharm. Romanus Okafor, President General of the Nri Town Union, praised the Mayor for revitalizing a borehole that had been non-functional for over seven years. He highlighted the importance of the solar-powered borehole for providing reliable access to clean water for all community members.
Okafor also encouraged the people of Nri to come out in large numbers on November 8, 2025, to demonstrate their support for the APGA government, which has made significant contributions to their well-being.
