Trump Demands Return of Bagram Air Base, Warns of “Bad Things” if Afghanistan Refuses

U.S. President Donald Trump has demanded that Afghanistan return control of Bagram Air Base and issued a stark warning of “bad things” to follow if the base is not handed back. The demand came after Afghanistan’s Taliban government rejected Trump’s call to restore U.S. access.
Trump made the statement on social media via Truth Social, writing: “If Afghanistan doesn’t give Bagram Airbase back to those that built it, the United States of America, BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN!!!” He also told reporters that discussions with Afghanistan are underway and emphasized the urgency of reclaiming the base.
Taliban officials swiftly pushed back. Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid dismissed Trump’s announcement, calling it unrealistic and a violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty, and urged the U.S. to act in accordance with international agreements such as the Doha Accord.
