After Suspension, Rivers Gov. Fubara Seeks Prayers for Lasting Peace

Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has appealed for prayers and spiritual backing from church leaders and the people of his state following the lifting of a six-month emergency rule and his resumption of official duties.

At a thanksgiving service held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Opobo Town, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude for his family’s safety and for what he described as God’s faithfulness. He emphasized that peace remains the greatest gift, urging unity, development, and goodwill throughout Rivers State and Nigeria. Teachers, local dignitaries, and religious leaders prayed for his administration’s success.

Fubara called on citizens to remain steadfast in prayers and intercessions, pointing out that those had been pillars of strength during his suspension. He described the worship time as personal and quiet but also vital for his renewed mission to serve the people.

The governor’s return marks the end of a political crisis that led to his suspension, his deputy, and the Rivers State House of Assembly, under presidential orders amid feuding between Fubara and his political godfather, Nyesom Wike.
