Gunmen abduct Nigerian gov’s senior aide

Muhammed Egye Osolafia, Senior Special Assistant on Humanitarian Services to Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, was abducted by gunmen in the Tudun Amba area of Lafia on Saturday night.
The attackers fired gunshots into the air to disperse people before whisking Osolafia away from his residence to an unknown destination.
Governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, described the incident as “sad and unfortunate”.
This abduction comes weeks after another top government official, Barrister Yusuf Musa, was kidnapped from his residence in Ungwan Nungu, Lafia.
Though, in a surprising turn of events, Dr. Muhammed Egye Osolafia has been released less than 24 hours after his abduction.
Details surrounding his release, including whether a ransom was paid, remain unclear.
